Ezekiel 'Zeke' Kinski is a fictional character on the Australian soap opera Neighbours, and is portrayed by Matthew Werkmeister. He first appeared in late 2005 shortly after his sister, Rachel Kinski [1] and currently remains on the show.

Zeke is the intelligent son of Alex Kinski (Andrew Clarke), and brother of Rachel and Katya (Dichen Lachman). Zeke's father had a Belarussian background and his mother Francesca was from Tibet. [edit] Alex's deathZeke and Rachel's father, Alex, died of leukaemia in December 2005 and after this Zeke, Katya and Rachel decided to live with Susan, whom Alex had married shortly before his death. Zeke currently resides with Susan and Karl Kennedy, Susan's former husband, whom she remarried in March 2007. Susan decided to retain Kinski as her surname in order to show Zeke and Rachel that their relationship remained the same. Susan later changed her name back to Kennedy with Zeke and Rachel's blessing. After his father's death, Zeke stopped speaking as he thought he killed his father by wishing that he was the one who died instead of his mother, but when Rachel was electrocuted by a faulty kitchen appliance, Zeke was forced (after a pause) to speak to an emergency operator, he then resumed speaking normally. [edit] KatyaWhen his sister Katya arrived (just before the death of their father) she took an immediate dislike to Susan. A custody battle ensued, but Susan eventually gave in and allowed Zeke and Rachel to live with Katya. Katya struggled with caring for them and keeping them out of trouble. This resulted in Zeke being taken to hospital after accidentally drinking alcohol. Katya, Zeke and Rachel then decided to move in with Susan after they realised she was lonely. Katya and Susan grew closer as a result of this. Zeke tracked down Katya after she fled while on police bail in an attempt to keep Guy Sykes away from her family. Katya left the show in January 2007. [edit] Bree TimminsZeke went out with Bree Timmins on/off for just over a year. They eventually ended their relationship when they realised that they weren't meant to be together. Zeke then started dating Lolly Allen. [edit] Lolly AllenZeke dated Lolly Allen for a short while and was upset when she decided to move back home to be with her birth father and siblings. They vowed to continue their relationship, but Zeke was dumped by text message just a few weeks later. [edit] Guy SykesIn the final episode of 2006, Zeke was held hostage along with Katya, Toadie Rebecchi, Stephanie Scully and Charlie Hoyland by Guy Sykes. Zeke managed to distract Guy by hitting him on the head with a book and Toadie wrestled Guy to the ground as everybody else escaped. Toadie was later shot as he escaped, but he survived[2]. [edit] TomKarl's father, Tom, moved into the Kinski-Kennedy household. Zeke and Tom bonded after Tom mistook Zeke for Karl due to his dementia. Zeke was upset when it was decided that Tom should live in a home but eventually accepted this after seeing that Tom was much happier with full time care.[3] [edit] Warehouse collapseIn the final episode of 2007, Zeke was one of many teenagers trapped in a collapsed warehouse, where an illegal dance party was held. Ringo Brown, Declan Napier, Bridget Parker, and his new girlfriend Taylah Jordan were also trapped, Rachel left the dance early to go and see Angus Henderson. The first episode of 2008 revealed that Zeke (as well as all of the other aforementioned teenagers) had survived. Zeke was upset when Karl went into the warehouse to help Libby Kennedy, who ran in to find Zeke. He chose to help Libby before Zeke, making him believe no one would choose him first in an emergency because he had very little biological family left. He later appeared to accept Karl's explanation that helping Libby first was a medical, rather than emotional, decision as she had been knocked out and may have been badly hurt. [edit] Taylah JordanZeke dated Taylah Jordan throughout early 2008.[4] Taylah was a friend of Jessica Wallace until Jessica died in the dance party roof collapse, which many of the Ramsay Street teens were involved in. Zeke and Taylah had been taking their relationship slowly until their school camp where they sneaked into a tent together, where they talked about taking it to the next level, but in the end they decided not to. Zeke states that Taylah has been his best girlfriend he has ever had. Before Ringo's 18th birthday party, Zeke met Taylah's former boyfriend Chris Knight. He later began to think that she wasn't really into him and tried to drink so she would like him. Although it did not work especially when Taylah admits that she loves him for who he is. Taylah and Zeke tried to take their relationship to the next level, but Susan walked in on them and when Karl came home, she was shocked to find out what they were up to. They called Taylah's dad Brad and he forbade Zeke and Taylah from seeing each other. However, one night Zeke snuck out to see Taylah, he climbed through her window and they fell asleep together. Her father walked into her room in the morning and discovered Zeke there. When Zeke took Taylah out to spend some time together, she admitted to him that she was with her ex-boyfriend and he made her scared of saying no to having sex. Then when Taylah asked Karl to prescribe her the "Pill". her father found out and he informed her that she was going to boarding school in the morning. At the formal later that night Zeke saw Taylah and she told him that she was leaving, they spent one last night together, which was cut short due to Bridget going missing. Zeke walked Taylah home in the morning and they said goodbye and she turned to walk into the house. Unfortunately, Bridget was with Taylah's ex-boyfriend, which resulted with a very scared Bridget and a dead Chris Knight (Taylah's ex-boyfriend)as he had tried to force Bridget into having sex with him. [edit] Ringo's CarZeke had some money stored away by his father, Alex before he died. When Ringo didn't have enough money to purchase a Ute, Zeke decided to help and invest in the ute of Ringo's so they could have a new ride, and subsequently purchased a Holden VR Ute. The ute however was bought from a dodgy dealer and was soon seized by the police. [edit] The New ZekeWhen he found out about Harold's cancer, a change occurred in Zeke. He began hanging out with a new gang and was accepted by them when, after they pulled a prank on him, he saved one of their lives. His new friends helped him get into trouble, such as on Muck-Up Day when they dressed up as terrorists and ran around the school with fake guns. Principal Andrew Simpson did not find it very funny after he called the police, but the boys were given detention. Declan, Ringo and Rachel were really hoping that Zeke would go back to the way that he used to be, but it was becoming difficult to get through to him. [edit] Rafting Accident/Phil AndrewsIn the 2009 Zeke along with Bridget and Libby were missing when one of the rafts capsized in a rafting accident. Bridget and Libby were found, but they couldn't find Zeke. They later found his life jacket and eventually his badly damaged helmet. They told Karl and Susan that with his helmet badly damaged, there's no chance that he could be found alive. Karl still searched for him, having dreams about him. They then got a call from a country hospital saying that they may have found Zeke. It turned out that it wasn't Zeke and Karl accepted that he was dead. His family then held a memorial for him at the General Store. Lucas and Elle were doing a Valentine's Day project in the countryside, when they saw a drawing that looked just like Zeke on a stall. They asked the lady who drew the picture who he was. She told them that he was staying at the Andrews' place. Elle and Lucas asked Phil Andrews if he had seen Zeke but he said that he didn't know who he was. Steph then saw Lucas with a photo and saw a person who looked just like Zeke in the background of the photo. He showed the photo to Elle who insisted that they had to go back. They found a guy who showed them the way to Phil's house but they couldn't find him. Elle saw a shirt that belonged to Zeke but Lucas wasn't convinced, Elle secretly took the shirt and hid it in her drawer, she told Lucas a few days later, and , angry with her he would not believe it was Zeke. Meanwhile Susan discovered that Zeke had a recent crush on Donna Freedman when she discovered photos of her in his drawer. Ringo wasn't too pleased and came to the conclusion that Donna and Zeke were secret lovers, but this was untrue. Lucas and Elle showed Susan the shirt, photo and the drawing and she called the police. She went to Phil's mate's house but they couldn't find Zeke. When Susan returned the shirt to Phil's house, Zeke found the note and became intrigued as to who she was. He later phoned her to thank her after recovering the number from the litter while Phil was outside, but upon hearing Susan and her use of the name Zeke, he encountered a blur in his memory and quickly put the phone down. Susan was left shocked, and her and Karl rushed to Phil's house to find Zeke. There they discovered a somewhat confused Zeke who, when Karl attacked Phil, stood up for Phil, believing him to be his father. It was revealed that Zeke had been suffering from a Dissociative Fugue and had no memory from before the rafting accident. After returning home, his memories slowly started to come back after he recognized Rachel at the hospital. Although he said that he just remembered her as someone he knew and not as a sister.[5] This series of events is reminiscent of episodes near the debut of the show, when Harold Bishop got lost at sea and returned years later with no recollection of his former self. [edit] Return to Ramsay StreetAt first Zeke angrily lashed out at Karl, Susan, Rachel, Ringo, Donna and others around him. He even persuaded Rachel to create a diversion for him to runaway, which failed. After a few days his anger started to settle down and after confronting and choosing his real life over his fake one, he accepted the situation and his memory gradually began to return. Zeke then started to remember his feelings for Donna. At Libby and Dan's wedding reception, much to Ringo's annoyance, Donna and Zeke forged a close bond. Ringo and Elle both confronted them, but Zeke stood his ground and defended Donna as well. Zeke initiated a kiss twice with Donna, and they did touch lips, but both times the kiss was cut short. Zeke was clearly very in love with Donna. Later on Donna told Zeke that she would rather be good friends. Zeke was disappointed, but acted nicely towards her. Ringo then confronted the two again and began to attack Zeke. Ringo went to punch Zeke, who managed to dodge out of the way. Ringo then went to tackle Zeke, but he dodged out of the way again and knocked Ringo to the ground using the martial arts skills he had learned while he was with Phil Andrews. Principal Andrew Simpson saw the fight and stopped Zeke before he could harm Ringo. [edit] Anxiety DisorderIn late 2009 it is found that Zeke is suffering from Obsessive–compulsive disorder an anxiety disorder. It seems that this has been caused by the rafting accident and his subsequent abduction by Phil Andrews. When Declan Napier and Ringo Brown go away overnight, Declan leaves Zeke in charge of India Napier. When they're out and about with India, Harry notices Zeke behaving oddly, he is forever checking that the brakes to India's pram are on and seems in general very anxious about India's well-being going so far as to not let anyone else push her pram. Harry thinks this behaviour is odd, despite Zeke's reassurances to him that he's fine, and raises it to Karl Kennedy through the column he has in a newspaper. [6][7] This is an ongoing storyline. [edit] Lost BoyZeke found a radio station called PirateNet and decided to join as a DJ. After he had joined he had a teenage vibe and all teens started to listen to him as was known as the "Lost Boy". After Sunny's arrival to Ramsay Street she had been embarrassed by "Lost Boy" so she began to try and find out "Lost Boy's" real identity. [8] Zeke was followed by Libby and Dan to the Pirate Net Station and they found Zeke as he revealed his identity as "Lost Boy". Zeke had been embarrassing and making comments about people in his neighbourhood and almost cost Dan his job. Dan had told him to stop this or his identity would be revealed to everyone. Zeke talked on his last show as Donna rang to tell "Lost Boy" that people needed him, he turned on his real voice and everyone who had been listening found out "Lost Boy" had been Zeke the whole time. When Donna found out, she was angry, but later calmed down. [edit] Sunny LeeDonna and Zeke were both leading roles in the school play and their characters shared a kiss, while rehearsing the kissing scene they agreed that there was no spark between them and decided they would only be friends. Sunny saw the kiss and got very upset revealing her feelings for Zeke. After being coerced into babysitting Callum and Ben, Zeke and Sunny almost kissed before being interrupted. During the drama camp trip, that Dan had set up, Sunny and Zeke were locked in a closet following a game of Truth or Dare. Zeke and Sunny have a chance to talk and he finds out about her insecurities, they went to kiss just as the closet was unlocked by Donna and Bridget. After this Sunny tried to avoid Zeke, but after speaking to her friends she eventually decided to speak to him and they decided to take their relationship slowly, this started with Zeke teaching Sunny how to play pool in Charlies. After a while Zeke and Sunny get really close. Sunny was getting distracted when Zeke was around and her grades began to slip. Dan told Susan and Karl who decided to talk to Sunny. Sunny promised to be a A+ student from then on. Sunny lied to Susan and Karl about getting permission from her parents to attend the Winter Cool music festival. Declan and Ringo decide to play a little joke and scare Zeke and Sunny when they are talking in the tent. Sunny runs off into the bush and gets lost, she then falls down a ravine. After Zeke finds her, he too falls down the ravine and he has an anxiety attack. To their relief, Lucas and Declan rescue them. [edit] Robin HesterRobin phoned into Zeke and Sunny's radio show during a coversation about relationships, where he said that if he was with Found Girl (Sunny radio persona) he would do anything to make her feel special. Later Robin turned up at the Kennedy house under the pretence of interviewing Karl, Susan introduced him to Harry because he told her he didn't really have any friends. Harry soon got fed up with him, but ended up introducing him to the the other teens. Robin clearly had a crush on Sunny and tried to spend time with her. Zeke became annoyed with Robin appearing every time and trying to make moves on Sunny. Zeke tried to tell Sunny that Robin liked her, but Sunny dismissed his ideas and told him that she and Robin were just friends. One night Robin climbed through Sunny's window and, after taking a photo of her, had to hide under her bed when she walked in with Zeke. [9] He overheard them talking about Zeke's anxiety disorder and mentioned this to Sunny and Susan during a dinner making Sunny think that this was the reason Zeke didn't like Robin. Zeke later lied to Robin telling him that he couldn't come to the radio station anymore as the manager had banned visitors. Robin realised that Zeke had lied to him, but promised he wouldn't tell Sunny. Zeke attacked Robin in the Store in front of Susan who believed that his anxiety disorder was back. One night at the radio station Robin locked Zeke in the station's storeroom, so that Robin could spend more time with Sunny. Harry was suspicious that Zeke hadn't come home and decided to go look for him. A couple hours later, Sunny and Robin went back to the radio station to see if he was there. Robin pretended to find the storeroom key on the ground and unlocked the door, letting Zeke out. Zeke told Sunny that Robin locked him in the storeroom, but she didn't believe him and thought he was just jealous. The next day Zeke attacked Robin, scaring Sunny. Zeke later told her he was sorry and then told her that Robin hadn't called him the night before like he said he had. Sunny then realised that Zeke was right all along and they hatched a plan to confront Robin. Sunny met Robin at Charlies and told Robin that she and Zeke had broken up. Robin confessed to locking Zeke in the storeroom and then tried to kiss Sunny, but Zeke appeared and told him to stay away from Sunny. At home Susan and Karl apologised to him for doubting him and Sunny told him that he was the best boyfriend in the world. Robin later appeared at the radio station and smashed up Zeke's studio, Zeke found him, locked the door and called the police. [edit] References
