Zbyněk Michálek (born December 23, 1982 in Jindřichův Hradec) is a Czech professional ice hockey and an alternate captain of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League (NHL).
[edit] Playing careerMichálek was not drafted in the NHL Entry Draft. He plays for the Phoenix Coyotes of the NHL and has also played for the Minnesota Wild. He was acquired by the Coyotes from Minnesota for Erik Westrum and Dustin Wood on August 26, 2005. His contract with Phoenix runs through the 2009–10 season and averages $1.4 million per season. In 2008–09, Michálek led the NHL in blocked shots. His younger brother Milan plays as a forward for the Ottawa Senators. Milan is two years younger than Zbyněk.
