Although in the past there have been plans to establish a secondary school in the area, it was abandoned during the Education cuts with the introduction of the Kennett Government, and the land sold to a developer. This action became very common in suburbs of Melbourne during the early 1990s. The state government announced in the 2007 state budget that a new P-12 school would be built in Wyndham Vale in the Manor Lakes Estate, developed by the Dennis Family Corporation. In addition a new Catholic School will be built catering up to P9 on the estate. Manor Lakes is approx 750 hectares in size and will eventually house more than 25 000 residents, making it the second largest residential development in Victoria after Caroline Springs. [edit] FacilitiesWyndham Vale contains many businesses in the area, including restaurants, cafes, grocery stores, corner stores, petrol stations and commercial car washes, Manor Lakes Shopping Centre comprising of facilities such as a Coles Supermarket, Medical Centre, Pharmacy, Newsagency, McDonald's restaurant and various specialty shops. [edit] ResidentialOver the past few years, Wyndham Vale has become the host of many residential development projects including Tarneit Gardens[1], The Rise Tarneit[2], Manor Lakes[3] and Wyndham Green. This is due to the large amounts of ex-farmland available on the western edge of town leading to Tarneit. [edit] MiscellaneousWyndham Vale is situated close to the site of many original Mad Max (the movie) scene locations. Just a little distance from Little River, it is a favourite destination for many Mad Max fans. Wyndham Vale is also known as Mad Max country. Is has some cute little creeks running through it toward Port Phillip Bay, including Lollipop and Cherry creeks.
