Map of countries participating in the WCG The World Cyber Games (WCG) is an international e-sports event (or "Cyber Games Festival") operated by Korean company World Cyber Games Inc. and backed by Samsung and, since 2006, Microsoft.[1] The official motto of WCG is "Beyond the Game," which is also the title of a documentary focusing on a legendary WCG rivalry.[2] The World Cyber Games were set up in 2000 with the first festival being held in 2001. The festival is influenced by the Olympic Games with a players village for competitors and since 2004 a different host city every year. WCG is the largest gaming festival celebrated once a year. More than one million visitors come and visit every year. It unites gamers from all over the world to allow players to enjoy and respect the gaming environment. Each participating country will conduct preliminary rounds before sending the finest gamers to represent them in this major event. Over 700 players from over 70 countries faced off in Seattle, 2007.
