[edit] Retinal atrophy

I'm not sure that this project is still active, but if anyone's home: The first sentence of Lattice degeneration links to Retinal atrophy, which automatically redirects to Progressive retinal atrophy, which is apparently a disease found in dogs. Is this a reasonable redirect? Should the Lattice degeneration article link to something else? WhatamIdoing (talk) 23:15, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Fixed & clarified. Retinal atrophy is found in dogs as well as humans, and probably in other animals too. Thanks for bringing this to attention. EyeMD ^T|C 16:34, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Should this discussion page be archived?

This talk page has gotten cumbersome. Many of the topics are now resolved. Should old/resolved topics be moved to an archive page? (This might preserve the topics slightly better than deleting them since it would place them in an archive rather than just in the edit history.)

Another alternative would be to collapse headers of the sections that are resolved.

I'm willing to set up either the archive or collapsing of the old topics. I'll wait for a response to this post or on my talk page. I'd like to hear from EyeMD or AED since they represent the majority of posts to this page. Garvin ^Talk 01:15, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

Neither of those people appear to be active editors any longer, so I don't think you should expect a response from them.

Have you considered having the project merged back into its parent, as an alternative to merely archiving this page? This was recently done for two other projects under WP:MED, and there was talk of re-absorbing some of these 'dead' projects as task forces. (Apparently that process involves moving a few project pages and changing all of the {{OphthoWikiProject}} tags on talk pages to tags that say {{WPMED|eye=yes}}, or something like that. It looks like there's about 100 tagged pages, so this shouldn't be too awful. WhatamIdoing (talk) 04:25, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Computer vision syndrome merger to Asthenopia

Computer vision syndrome (which has 17 PubMed hits - ie exists but not widespread used term) is already mention in Asthenopia ("eye strain" which has 96 PubMed hits) and thus should be merged (using per WP:MEDMOS the technical term for the condition vs redirected lay-term) - I've set up discussion thread at Talk:Asthenopia#Merge of Computer vision syndrome David Ruben ^Talk 01:21, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to WPMED

WP:WikiProject Ophthalmology has been converted to a task force under WikiProject Medicine. Welcome!

For the most part, WP:EYE should look, feel, and behave exactly as it had been. A few pages and categories have moved, but redirects should be in place for all of them and the shortcuts have been updated. The old project banner for talk pages has been merged with {{WPMED}}. You can leave messages for ophthalmology-specific issues on this page, just like you always have, keep working on your own {{to do}} list, and keep separate importance assessments for articles if you want.

Please feel free to participate in the larger project, to recruit members and other help from the larger project, and also to keep the doctors' mess on your watchlist in case of announcements affecting greater numbers of people. The overall goal is to reduce your administrative overhead, so if you need something bureaucratic handled, WT:MED is the place to ask for help.

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

[edit] Taskforce-imp ranking

The WPMED template was recently changed so that taskforce importance is no longer inherited from WPMED importance. (i.e. formerly, if taskforce-imp is not specified, then the taskforce importance would be the same as the general WPMED importance. After the change, the taskforce importance is "None" if it is not specified). (See WP:WikiProject Medicine/Assessment#Statistics.)

The old behavior can be restored for those taskforces that desire it. (See template talk:WPMED#Taskforce importance.) Zodon (talk) 07:40, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

On the WP:MED talk page, we have been discussing an article entitled naked eye. There is plenty of interesting information on it, however, none of it is cited. If anybody here can do anything about it, please do so. Also, we have been debating whether we should notify the astronomy wikiproject as well, since it appears that the article might interest them also.
