This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

The article Politics of Finland stops at 2007. Does Finland still exist as a country? Were the Euro elections cancelled in Finland? The article on the TrueFinns mentions the election result 9.8% in the table far down the article, but the text does not cover the election.Djwebb1969 (talk) 03:22, 5 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Technical drawing tools article - help requested

I was doing some research about William Stanley (Victorian inventor) and came across the above article on the Finnish Wikipedia. I have used Google Translate (and did a little bit of tidying up myself), but I don't read Finnish!

Is it possible for someone (especially if they know the subject area!) to have a look at the article, and at a minimum translate the words which Google Translate didn't? (I've put a question mark in front of any words that weren't translated, e.g. ?example.)

Some of the words which Google didn't translate I could find by looking at the original word in Finnish, looking that up on the Finnish Wikipedia, and then going to the 'English' translation - but many others I couldn't do this for!

A few of the areas are Finland-centric, but as I don't know the English equivalent, I've left them in, in the hopes that someone can correct it!

If the missing terms can be translated, I can look at it again for a clean-up, and then refer it to the relevant WikiProject for Technical Drawing, so that someone with expertise in that area can polish it up.

When I get a chance next week, I am going to copy the pictures in the original Finnish article over to Commons (copyright allowing) and then add those to the English-language entry.

Any help from Finnish-speaking editors would be very welcome!

Tein hieman tutkimustyötä noin William Stanley (Victorian keksijä) ja löysivät edellä artikkeli Suomen Wikipedia. Olen käyttänyt Google Translate (ja oli hieman siistitään itse), mutta en ole lukenut suomeksi!

Onko mahdollista, että joku (varsinkin jos he tuntevat aiheen!) On tarkastella artikkelin, ja vähintään kääntää sanat, jotka Google Kääntäjä ei? (Olen kyseenalaistaa edessä sanat, joita ei ole käännetty, esim.? Esimerkki.)

Jotkut sanat, jotka Google ei käännä voisin löytää tarkastelemalla alkuperäistä sanaa suomeksi, näköinen, että ylös Suomen Wikipedia, ja sitten menee Englanti käännös - mutta monia muita en voinut tehdä tätä!

Muutamat alueet ovat Suomi-keskeinen, mutta en tiedä, Englanti vastaavaa, olen jätti heidät, ja toivoo, että joku voi korjata!

Jos puuttuvia ehtoja voidaan kääntää, voin tarkastella sitä uudelleen puhdistuksen, ja sitten palauttaa sen merkitystä WikiProject teknisen piirrustus, niin että joku asiantuntija tällä alalla voi kiillottaa sitä.

Would appreciate if someone could look at Kuopion Reippaan voimistelijat. I declined a speedy because a 100+ year old organization is generally seen as a claim of importance. However, all the sources I'm finding the teh googles are in Finnish, and the machine translation is rather awful. Thanks! --Fabrictramp | talk to me 00:21, 20 September 2009 (UTC)
