[edit] Article alerts

This is a notice to let you know about Article alerts, a fully-automated subscription-based news delivery system designed to notify WikiProjects and Taskforces when articles are entering Articles for deletion, Requests for comment, Peer review and other workflows (full list). The reports are updated on a daily basis, and provide brief summaries of what happened, with relevant links to discussion or results when possible. A certain degree of customization is available; WikiProjects and Taskforces can choose which workflows to include, have individual reports generated for each workflow, have deletion discussion transcluded on the reports, and so on. An example of a customized report can be found here.

If you are already subscribed to Article Alerts, it is now easier to report bugs and request new features. We are also in the process of implementing a "news system", which would let projects know about ongoing discussions on a wikipedia-wide level, and other things of interest. The developers also note that some subscribing WikiProjects and Taskforces use the display=none parameter, but forget to give a link to their alert page. Your alert page should be located at "Wikipedia:PROJECT-OR-TASKFORCE-HOMEPAGE/Article alerts". Questions and feedback should be left at Wikipedia talk:Article alerts.

Message sent by User:Addbot to all active wiki projects per request, Comments on the message and bot are welcome here.

Thanks. — Headbomb {ταλκκοντριβς – WP Physics} 09:04, 15 March, 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Nutcracker commentary

This is a minor thing, but the Fantasia article's claim that the Nutcracker ballet is now frequently performed in its entirety (as opposed to the comment made by the narrator that the full ballet is typically not performed anymore) is inaccurate. While the storyline and events of the ballet are preserved, the score is rarely used in its entirety. It is now common practice to replace less desirable score elements with pieces by other composers. I believe the splicing and substituting of the score are what the narrator refers to when he claims that the full ballet is rarely performed anymore--which would make his comment as relevant now as it was in 1940. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.168.192.44 (talkcontribs)

[edit] Are there enough articles on this subject to justify an Outline of Disney?

By the way, here's a relevant discussion about subject development you might find interesting.

Now back to the question...

The Transhumanist    01:28, 31 July 2009 (UTC)

I'm sure there are, but there aren't many at GA or FA status. Does that matter? Liquidluck (talk) 01:11, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Clean up

I've been deleting sections off the main page to rid it of clutter, with the hope of making it attractive and welcoming to potential new members- this project has gone rather quiet. If anyone has any problems with my actions, please leave me a comment here or on my talk page. Thanks! Liquidluck (talk) 01:11, 19 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] List of characters in Phineas and Ferb

This article is heavily in need of help. Not only is it un-sourced and messy, but people keep editing things that need to be reverted immediately such as:

  • Break templates by messing with something
  • Link to "Main article" but they just redirect back to the same section.
  • Change the characters age. (I have no idea what their real age is, so I dont know who to revert.)

It would help if your project would watch this page. It had no project boxes on the talkpage, so I added them as Start-class and low-importance. Thanks, Blake (Talk·Edits) 00:32, 22 September 2009 (UTC)

I actually set a goal to work on the article and set up a sandbox a while back (had to remove it to work on something else, though). I will begin to work on a rewrite as soon as I am able. The Flash {talk} 19:31, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Task Force

User:Liquidluck and I are proposing a Task Force for any article pertaining to the actress, singer and songwriter Miley Cyrus, as well as for the franchise, Hannah Montana. A majority of these articles (ex: "Who Said," Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus and Miles to Go) are lacking sources, images, description and more. They can and should be expanded. We are proposing this TaskForce so that any collaborators may work on the articles pertaining to the singer/franchise, the goal being to bring them up to a FA and GA status on Wikipdeia, anyone is welcomed. If there are no objections in four days, we will start it. Thank you. -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 14:40, 26 September 2009 (UTC)

Commenting to confirm my support. Many Miley Cyrus articles are also vandalism targets or targets of good faith additions by confused contributors. Liquidluck (talk) 20:49, 26 September 2009 (UTC)
If it's just the two of you, is a task force really necessary? And why place the task force under WikiProject Disney? She's certain to undertake non-Disney projects in the future, which would cause difficulties in categorizing their articles under a Disney task force. Powers T 18:20, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
Yes, but as of now she is under Disney. Plus, we're making a task force so anyone is welcomed to edit in a group. -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 23:01, 29 September 2009 (UTC)
What about previous non-Disney projects? Would they fall under the task force's remit? Powers T 12:18, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
Well, what would be an acceptable WikiProject to put the task force under? -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 22:51, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
It depends on the answer to my question. If you are specifically only going to focus on Cyrus' Disney projects, or on the Hannah Montana franchise alone, then it's fine to have it here. But if you want to focus on all aspects of her career, then my best suggestion would be to make it a joint task force under both WikiProject Musicians and WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers. I am not intimately familiar with how task forces work, though, so I don't know if that's feasible. Powers T 23:17, 1 October 2009 (UTC)
O.K. I read through WP:TASKFORCE and it would be acceptable to include articles only pertaining to her singing and acting career. But our initial goal also included her book and the Hannah Montana franchise. Looks like a WikiProject might be acceptable because it is independent and maybe a Hannah Montana Task Force under Disney, later on. -- Ipodnano05 (talk) 01:19, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
It sounds like your scope won't fit neatly under any single existing WikiProject. If you don't think you have enough people for a full-fledged WikiProject, my only remaining suggestion is to leave a message at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council and see what the experts there think. Powers T 12:06, 2 October 2009 (UTC)
Perhaps a wider task force, then- something like Disney Channel, or Disney Stars encompassing solely their Disney-related projects. This would have to be advertised and discussed separately, and the points raised here are valid, so the Miley Cyrus task force idea should be shelved for now. Thanks for your input, Powers! [edit] Issue with "Article alerts" section

While skimming the section, I noticed a bit of false info was put it but can't find the actual page to fix it. One sentence reads: 28 Sep 2009 – Phineas Flynn (talk) is nominated as GA candidate by Harej (on hold); see discussion. However, it was actually I who nominated it. Anyone know what's happening or how to fix it? The Flash {talk} 19:35, 6 October 2009 (UTC)

Clearly the bot was confused by this edit by Harej, who was fixing RFCbot's error. However, there's nothing we can do about it here. If you look at the bottom of the Article Alerts section, you'll see a small line with a link to report a bug in the operation of ArticleAlertbot. I suggest you follow that link and report the bug there. Powers T 13:48, 7 October 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. Now that the article was promoted it's already fixed, but if it happens again I'll go there first. The Flash {talk} 16:22, 10 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Book

Google Booking "Phineas and Ferb," I stumbled upon the book Disney Channel Rocks!: A Companion to All Your Favorite Shows, which has some entries on the show (and other Disney Channel shows) and would be incredibly helpful to me on my project for the series (and others who are working on the shows available in the book). The problem is, there's no preview available. Does anybody have access to the book? If so, could you give me some of the info that's available in it about Phineas and Ferb? Thanks in advance, The Flash {talk} 19:05, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

You might want to check your local libraries; some might have acquired it for their teen sections. Powers T 15:16, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
