• Excluded: Azores (Portugal), Canaries (Spain), St Helena, Ascension, and Tristan da Cunha (UK Overseas territories)

• all islands in the Caribbean not politically part of a North, Central, or South American country, i.e., the Greater Antilles and Lesser Antilles, as well as the Bahamas and Turks and Caicos Islands. Puerto Rico is covered by this stub, rather than a US-geo-stub.
• those stretches of water which separate and surround those countries.
