Welcome to the Novels WikiProject Collaboration of the Month! This effort seeks to identify articles within the field of literature and novels—including novels and novel series, novel characters, novellas and many others—that require improvement. Every month, a single article will be selected as the collaboration, and everyone will work to improve it as much as possible. (It has been requested we work on a number of articles from different genres at once to reflect interest diversity, that may be added later.) Editors are welcome to add their names to the list of regular contributors for project collaborations.

Contents

[edit] Regular contributors

If you'd like to be a regular contributor for WikiProject Novels collaborations, feel free to add your name to the list below.

[edit] Nominating articles

To nominate an article, add

 ===[[Name of article]]===  Nomination text. ~~~~  '''Support'''  # ~~~~  '''Comments'''

at the bottom of the list of candidates, filling in the name of the article and the nomination text (which should indicate why the article would benefit from a collaboration and what needs to be improved). It is recommended that specific goals be given for new collaborations, such as "promoting to GA status", to help direct the efforts of contributors.

Please remember to add collaboration-candidate=yes to the {{NovelsWikiProject}} project banner at the top of the article's talk page (see the Project banner instructions for more details on the exact syntax).

[edit] Stalled nominations

Nominations which have "stalled" through lack of support are listed at: Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Collaboration/Stalled. Stalled nominations are those which have received no more than two votes of support (including the original nomination) during their first six months on the candidates list. Should a stalled nomination receive a third vote of support, its listing should return to the list of active candidates below as it may have sufficient community interest to be selected.

[edit] Candidates

[edit] Current collaboration

The next collaboration will hopefully be selected on 21 September 2009. The current time is 12:45, December 16, 2009.

[edit] The Sound and the Fury

I suppose we have to have a candidate bt I don't know why I didn't do this earlier. The article on this book is stunningly not up to par. A collaboration would be great help, because unlike many books sourced secondary opinions and information is very easy to find for this, its so major. That makes all the more unacceptable that such an article, on what may be considered Faulkner's greatest novel, a masterpiece of complexity, both in writing and in characters, is so inadequate. As it is for one I think the plot summary is horribly poor, and you know I don't really agree that there should be, "Cast listings" for these kinds of novels, it seems rather insulting and ineloquent, because it'll always be in adequate, do a disservice by not fully doing the characters justice. I would like to head up a team to add a great deal more on the article. Putting a section on the impact, then and now, as well as improving the plot, and putting in a section on the critical interpretations of the novel. Unlike my last supported nomination I can support this one. You see I have actually read this one more thoroughly and written about it before. I'd only read about the Tin Drum, as well as excerpts so I couldn't really write more thoroughly. But The Sound and the Fury is a much different story. Every collaboration needs some dedicated to drive it, when they don't it ends up failing, so I think moving on tho this article next would be a good idea and of the uptmost importance.--Robert Waalk (talk) 11:54, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

Pretty much al my thoughts are up above in its nomination.--Robert Waalk (talk) 11:54, 25 July 2009 (UTC)
Seems like you know the book, so no reason why you shouldn't update, even if it isn't the current Collaboration. Also, check out The Oregon Files - they're good books, and the article is - like The Sound and the Fury - extremely under-par. Alan16 (talk) 12:08, 25 July 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Archives

[edit] Maintenance

At the beginning of every month, a new collaboration article should be selected. This should generally be the candidate with the most support (and the oldest candidate in case of a tie).

To archive the current collaboration
  1. Remove {{NovelsWikiProject Collaboration}} from the top of the current collaboration article.
  2. Change the date details on the article talk page past-collaboration=<start date>–<end date> in the {{NovelsWikiProject}} project banner to include the end date.
  3. Add the current article to the bottom of the history section.
  4. Move the current article's nomination text to the archive.
To select the new collaboration
  1. Add {{NovelsWikiProject Collaboration}} to the top of the new article.
  2. Move the new article's nomination text to the "Current collaboration" section.
  3. Update Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Collaboration/Current to point to the new article.
  4. Update Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Collaboration/NextDate to use the next vote date.
  5. Replace collaboration-candidate=yes with past-collaboration=<start date>–<end date> in the {{NovelsWikiProject}} banner at the top of the new article's talk page. The "<end-date>" element should read "open" to start with.
Notify other members of the WikiProject
  1. Add {{subst:Wikipedia:WikiProject Novels/Collaboration/Notice|Name of article}} ~~~~ to the talk pages of users who supported the new article.
  2. Add a post on the GeneralForum advertising the new collaboration to project members.
  3. Notify any relevant task forces of the current collaboration.
  4. Notify regular contributors of the new collaboration of the month.
