[edit] About the Foodservice task force Some Wikipedians have formed a task force to better organize information in articles related to the foodservice industry, restaurants, quick-service restaurants, catering, and other parts of the professional food industry within WikiProject Food and Drink. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. This page and its subpages contain the suggestions of Wikipedians who are actively involved or employed in the foodservice industry, whether as managers, operations support personnel, buyers, health inspectors, or other people with an interest in foodservice operations. This task force aims to be a complete resource on restaurants, eateries, and foodservice in general from individual restaurant chains and major restaurants to equipment vendors and health codes. In general, the scope of this project is to find and improve every restaurant and foodservice article on Wikipedia to the point where they could become featured articles. [edit] Participants You can join the project by adding your name to the participants list and placing one of the user boxes ({{User WP Foodservice}}) on your user page. | These are the current projects tha the Foodservice task force is working on: - Food safety improvement drive (17:53, 28 August 2008 (UTC))
| A community forum has been established to help manage common goals of the associated Food and Drink WikiProjects. A general forum can be found here. - Goal specific forums
- Guidelines forum - This forum has been set up for the various Food and Drink projects to develop a set of Manual of Style guidelines for use in articles under the auspices of all the related Food and Drink WikiProjects and task forces. This would be similar to the MoS guidelines for biographies or legal articles.
- Restaurant notability guidelines discussion - This guideline is intended to extend WP:CORP, in no way to replace its purpose, in regard to restaurants. It is also not intended to replace, supplant, or otherwise alter the standard notability requirements.
The reason this extension of the notability requirements is necessary is that there is a constant inflow of pages for restaurants that do not have, or have a very tenuous, notability. [edit] Article information [edit] Structure Keeping with the restaurant/foodservice theme, the taskforce is divided into several different parts and functions: - Operations: Devoted to restaurants, eateries, catering companies, and other foodservice entities. Operations tags and develops articles having to do with individual companies and brands.
- Practices: Devoted to writing articles around best standards, i.e. Balanced Scorecard, Operational Flow-Through
- Equipment: Devoted to developing and tagging articles on equipment used in restaurant and foodservice operations.
- Health and Safety: Devoted to working on, tagging, and developing articles having to do with regulatory requirements for eateries and foodservice operations.
