Administrator instructions

Requests for undeletion is intended to assist users in restoring pages that were uncontroversially deleted, such as articles deleted via proposed deletion and also pages deleted under certain speedy deletion criteria such as G6.

It also serves as a central location to request that deleted content deleted via other channels (such as AFD and other CSD criteria) be userfied or emailed to you so the content can be improved upon prior to re-insertion into the mainspace, or used elsewhere. You may also ask an administrator in Category:Wikipedia administrators who will provide copies of deleted articles.

Note that requests for undeletion is not a replacement for Wikipedia:Deletion review. If you feel an administrator has erred in closing a deletion discussion, and you are unable to resolve the issue on their talk page, it should be raised at DRV—not here. For images, use {{ImageUndeleteRequest}}.

[edit] Orikaso

I'd like to know why my article has been deleted. The heading is ORIKASO which is origami using polypropylene. Before you delete this I'd also like to know why there are so many commercial advertisements already in the Wiki pages - Nikon, Coca Cola and so on (some pages even carrying logo's) apparently my article looked like an advertisement but it wasn't. It was informative and also is an invention with world-wide patents.

If someone would email me for a discussion on the topic that would be great.

I did make a donation too after placing the article only to find it vanish.

  • X mark.svgN Not done G11 seems a reasonable conclusion for an article that is clearly written with some promotional value in mind. However, I have had a closer look at this and I think the deleting admin and nominator for CSD erred as this was undoubtedly a copyright violation with at least part of the deleted text lifted directly from http://www.orikaso.com/about.php. Since Wikipedia does not care to publish copyright violations I think I can say without fear of contradiction that this article isn't coming back in this form Spartaz Humbug! 21:11, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

Copyright violation is NOT an issue. I own the company, intellectual property and several patents. Please can we relist my original script about this innovative new idea. It's already all over the Internet like a rash. The thousands of end-users out there would be delighted to see it on Wiki and might just make a donation too. I still think you are unfair to refuse this humble effort when you openly accept, for example, Nikon and Coca Cola which are just advertisements? — Preceding unsigned comment added by K7ventures (talkcontribs) 21:39, 26 November 2009 (UTC)

  • Since you own the company, take a minute to carefully read WP:COI to see why using your material verbatim is a bad idea. Additionally, because copyright is a legal issue, certain steps need to be followed before this material can be used. See Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for the steps you would need to take. HTH--Fabrictramp | talk to me 18:07, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Eimantas Paltarackas

Hello,

I do apologize but today I did noticed that one of my articles has been deleted by user called Renata3. The reason of deletion stated "No indication that the article may meet guidelines for inclusion: total advertising". I never meant to make it look as an advertisement, never had such intentions. I provided a short story of his life, biography.

For many years it has been published on Wiki and suddenly now it's been deleted for such an unlikely reason. I can clearly confirm that the person that I wrote this article about is a talented public radio personality. He is currently working into broadcasting industry in United Kingdom, as well working on projects with the British Broadcasting Corp. too. If necessary, I can prove it.

Please, is there anything that can be done to undelete this article?
Accept my apologie once again and thank you so much for taking your time on this matter. Regards, Sean.

  • No apologies necessary, but unfortunately we can't unilaterally restore this article. It was deleted as a speedy deletion, which allows administrators to remove articles which give no indication of meeting our inclusion criteria. In this case, the deleting administrator had two concerns, the inclusion guidelines and our guidelines on advertisement. In order to meet our inclusion criteria, a subject must be covered in signficant detail by multiple reliable sources. If you can find those, you may ask the deleting administrator to restore it or ask that another admin restore it at deletion review. I hope that helps. Protonk (talk) 21:54, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Thank you Protonk for your help. I honestly appreciate what you'd sujested for me so the article could be restored. Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sean Todd Lewis (talkcontribs) 18:33, 17 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Cindy Sampson

Recently there was an up and coming actress Cindy Sampson deleted from wikipedia, For those of her fans that follow her work to state that she is an unnotable B-Movie Actress is a defamation of her character. We believe the film's and television shows she is listed as appearing in are notable and they do include her in the cast credits. Cindy is slated to not only appear in but star in upcoming films. She is a growing well known actress to her growing fan base.

Please put her page back up and allow the world to view her.

concern was: Unnotable B-movie actress. No significant coverage in reliable, third party sources. Most films she's listed as appearing in are not even notable enough for inclusion themselves. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.192.48.34 (talk) 01:58, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

  • Yes check.svgY Done. Restored as a contested PROD. Please note that this article may still be nominated for deletion, which is a more binding form of deletion. The best way to guard against that is to provide reliable sources which cover the subject in significant detail. Also, it is not defamation of character to argue that a person may not meet our inclusion criteria, which are neutral and relatively well enumerated. I have restored this page only because contested prods may be restored automatically, not because the world can "view her". Specifically, wikipedia is not a directory of actors and actresses. That is imDb's job. Protonk (talk) 21:48, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Bogumiła Żongołłowicz

Realised just now that this article has been deleted. I consider this as a misunderstanding as the person is quite well known in Australian Polish Community. Maybe there was a lack of citations in English and probably the name should be spelled with simple Latin letters to make it more obvious that it should stay. To begin with: is it possible that I get the contents of deleted article to review it? Pplu (talk) 04:27, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

  • Yes check.svgY Done. The article and all its history is now at User:Pplu/Bogumiła Żongołłowicz. Please review the deletion discussion and once you have corrected the reasons for deletion (with pointers to sources satisfying WP:V), you may move it back to mainspace. Please understand that although non-english language sources are acceptable, editors may be skeptical of them because it is difficult for an english speaker to verify their content or importance. Protonk (talk) 21:41, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Peppermint Parlour

This article was deleted because "nonnotable band, doesn't look like they were ever signed to a label".

They were signed to a small Cardiff label Apex Records and released a single in 1986. Their profile has increased in the last 5 years where a 19 song CD was issued and also have a cult following in Japan.

The lead singer is Alan Thompson, currently working as a DJ/Presenter for BBC Wales.

The band is still known and remembered and also have some tunes placed by fans on You Tube and have a lot of listeners on Last.fm

It would be great for Wiki to allow this article so as to allow fans to read and remember them — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.0.118.5 (talk) 09:26, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Gordon Basichis

I have no idea why my page was deleted. It is truly ridiculous. I am a published author of three different books, all with the listed ISBN numbers. One book was a bestseller, Beautiful Bad Girl, and stills sells today. The Guys Who Spied for China is a brand new release, also with the listed ISBN number. The Constant Travellers was published by Putnams and also has its ISBN number. It was also optioned for a film at two major studios. Twentieth Century Fox and MGM. As for Beautiful Bad Girl, the Vicki Morgan Story, the book is now being optioned for film rights. It is an ongoing story that has lasting power both in the news and is studied by true crime aficionados and others. Why this would be deleted is beyond me. Much of the posting has been on your site for years now, and I find it strange that someone would now choose to delete it without asking or checking first.

[edit] AJAST_(programming)

Please consider restoring the http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJAST_(programming) page.

It happened that the only article regarding this particular programming technique has been removed.

This topic is not being covered in related wikipedia pages.

It was useful despite the term wasn't widely known.

We don't have better name anyway and this is alone is not good enough reason for deleting a useful article.

Content of this article hasn't been transferred/migrated to Ajax article as it has been proposed in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/AJAST_(programming)

Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.255.52.66 (talk) 05:16, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] VitaMan USA

I created a page describing the VitaMan skincare company and product line. Apparently it was deleted for advertising issues. I understand Wikipedia's stance now on this, as I didn't before...however, I would I will continue to go through numerous other similar companies listed on Wikipedia and request and expect their deletion also. Such as Clarins, Lancome, and MANY others.

Why are these other skincare companies allowed to be indexed here but not mine? Please let me know what my misunderstanding is.

Thank you for your assistance.

Regards, Richard —Preceding unsigned comment added by Rmichelli (talkcontribs)

It's not that VitaMan will never have an article on Wikipedia; the problem was that your article was written like an advertisement, not like an unbiased encyclopedia article. This is exactly why people with a conflict of interest are strongly discouraged from writing about topics where they have that conflict -- it's difficult for them to see the bias in their writing because they care so deeply about the subject. (If you didn't, you wouldn't be human.)
If you have more questions on this, Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations may be of help.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 19:00, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Scott Kennedy

Article was uncontroversially deleted on 29 March 2007 by Bobet with the reason "Non-notable buisness [sic] owner and unsuccessful politician")

This implies that some given level of notability was insufficient, and was unchallenged. But reading the Wikipedia "Content Policy" on "Biographies of Living Persons", and perusing the thousands of non-notable biographies, it seems there is sufficient publicly verifiable published material on this individual to merit inclusion. Thank you for your consideration.

[edit] One Media Player per Teacher

I want to re-post the article I made, One Media Player per Teacher (OMPT). It was deleted because of spam or conflict with another topic. I'm having problems with the credibility of the references I suppose. However this is a newly formed nonprofit organization, so the resources are limited.

I work for OMPT and was assigned to post the Wikipedia article for the organization, so all of the information is credible and taken directly from the OMPT website (www.ompt.org). I work directly under the Executive Director, so there shouldn't be any problems, right?

I mistakenly named the article "One Media Player per Child" the first time I posted it, and sent an email requesting it get deleted because of the title error. Maybe that has something to do with the article being deleted? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Oborrows (talkcontribs) 19:03, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

I've restored the article as a contested prod, however I'd suggest you deal with the objections to the references quickly or the article will likely end up at articles for deletion. If references showing notability aren't out there because the organization is new, it may be a bit soon for a Wikipedia article on them.
Also read WP:COI. Because you work for the organization, there are problems with you (or anyone connected with the organization) editing the article because it will be difficult for you to write in an unbiased manner. Please let your Executive Director that Wikipedia is not the venue to advertise the organization. (See WP:COI and WP:SPAM.) HTH!--Fabrictramp | talk to me 19:04, 21 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Reframe It

Please undelete this article.

The article was deleted based on G4: Recreation of a page that was deleted per a deletion discussion. The page was previously deleted in July, 2009 because it lacked Notable sources. The page was later created with new information (the page was not identical) and many notable sources, including the New York times and other sources that are identified as notable on other Wikipedia articles. As such (and as stated under G4) "the reason for the deletion no longer applies."

Thus it cannot be marked for speedy deletion under G4, and should not have been deleted.

The page was marked for speedy deletion today, November 19th, after Reframe It received press coverage yet again by New York Times technology online, and has already been deleted, without any discussion.

[edit] Paul Welday

Paul Welday is a politician and business man of Oakland County. He is challenging incumbent Gary Peters in Michigan's Ninth Congressional District, and is widely regarded as the best Republican candidate by local politicians (see the page itself). He is endorsed for the office by prominent Oakland County names, such as ex-Congressman Joe Knollenberg and Oakland County Executive L. Brooks Patterson. He had previously served as the former's chief of staff. Paul Welday's name already appears several times on Wikipedia, and when the link is clicked on, a page suggesting creating a page arises. Please note his appearance and prominence in United States House of Representatives elections, 2010 under Michigan's Ninth District.

Part 3 under notable enough to be in an encyclopedia states: "although such people can still be notable if they meet the primary notability criterion of 'significant coverage in reliable sources that are independent of the subject of the article.'" Welday has received significant coverage by the County's primary newspaper (The Oakland Press), as well as Metro Detroit's WWJ Newsradio 950 AM, and the Detroit News/Free Press. This coverage by "secondary sources" clearly qualifies his spot on Wikipedia.

The reason given was that Paul Welday does not meet Wikipedia notability standards. For the reasons above, it seems, however, that he does. It should be noted that the individual who deleted this page, Orangemike is ideologically opposed and also dissented of prominent Republican Party members on his personal page. He indicated that felt George W. Bush should be "prosecuted".

If the issue is that I need to add more information to build credibility, I have no problem doing so, but please let me know either way.

Thanks for your time. Soccer4926 (talk) 23:37, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Aramram

Hello, I'm new to this. Don't understand why the page Aramram was deleted. This is an actual website and the description I placed of it is accurate. It has been covered by the local media (Arabic language) as well as local Jordanian bloggers and websites. While the site doesn't have international importance, the fact that it is the 1st Arabic-language Jordanian WebTV geared towards a Jordanian audience makes it have at least some local significance. This is attested by the fact that in the 5 months since its launch it is one of the top 200 sites visited in Jordan..... thanx —Preceding unsigned comment added by E.hamam (talkcontribs)

This article was deleted on 00:12, 27 September 2009 The article was deleted for failing notability.

The subject of the article meets the criteria for notability as defined by WP:POLITICIAN. He holds a first level sub-national political office in Ireland - member of Dun Laoghaire City Council. He has received significant press coverage at national level in the two main broadsheet national newspapers The Irish Times & The Irish Independent and by the national TV broadcaster RTE. [edit] Ecolig

The article Ecolig has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

This does not evidence assert notability, nor have I found any via the web. There is a paper on the subject Ecolig - A semiotic protocol that uses neuroheadsets and CP-Nets; one of the authors of that paper appears to be the author of this article. The article may have been created in order to give greater credence to the paper. The article may consist of the contents of the paper for all I know - it's pay-per view.

I am a research team member from UNICAMP (The University of Campinas) [1] one important University in Brazil (South America). We have been studding the Brain Machine Interfaces with the [DMCSI] Department of Machine, Control and Intelligent Systems [2]. I understand your concern about the notability since it is a new technology and the protocol we have been working Ecolig will change the relationship between human being and the electronic world. The article Ecolig has been published with Wikipedia a long time ago and nobody made any opposition about that. Since an essential part of the Wikimedia Foundation's mission is encouraging the development of free-content educational resources that may be created, used, and reused by the entire human community, we understand we are contributing with community with a good quality article. About the paper Ecolig - A semiotic protocol that uses neuroheadsets and CP-Nets; sincerely, there is no intention to give any credence to that, since it was presented in IADIS ED-MEDIA 2009 in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2009. As you know, there are several references in Wikipedia about IEEE, for example, with restrict access, I mean pay per view, and most of that represent a great research society contribution. Anyway, if you prefer, I can send you a copy of that article and exclude that reference in Wikipedia to be published. We trust in Wikipedia contribution to the human community and we have responsibility about the proposed content. I am confident you will reconsider the deleted proposition in order to keep Wikipedia up to dated with new technologies and keep the organization international in its nature, where the board of trustees, staff members, and volunteers are involved without discrimination based on their religion, political beliefs, sexual preferences, nationalities, etc... Not only do we accept diversity, but to look forward to it..

1) The links I added were deleted and they were all non-profit and very relevant to the topic (they were national nonprofits from various countries that help people with phobias. An individual started and tracking and deleting all of them.

2) A number of these phobias are (or can also be) social phobias and I added that to the articles. The same person went through and reverted all of these. Please help. These links can save lives.

The article List of phobias is not deleted, so this isn't something we can help with here. I'd suggest reading Wikipedia:External links, then discussing your changes at Talk:List of phobias or with the editor(s) who are reverting your additions to try and form a consensus. I'm not seeing a claim that the band recorded two albums on a major label, it's not stated who their first one was recorded with. It's stated that the second (rather unsuccessful) one was recorded on BMG. If that's an assertion of significance, it's awfully thin. I've no objection to recreation if the band did receive substantial coverage in reliable sources. Seraphimblade Talk to me 01:07, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit] New Industrial Revolution

User:Jclemens deleted this article, claiming that it was an "exhortation" and not based on something that was actually happening. I believe that this was an arbitrary decision, and was made without following the proper protocal for deletion of an article. He waited only two days prior to deletion of the page, contrary to the deletion policy. This article withstood scrutiny and had meaningful contributions for over a year. I think that his deletion was arbitrary and borders on censorship of ideas.

Although the movement is right now in its infancy, one need only do a simple google search for "new industrial revolution" to find hundreds are hits relating to news, books, and other media on the subject. I think that the article was aptly named, as that is what the commentators and writers are calling it. I had several redirect pages for other names, such as Green economic revolution, Next Industrial Revolution, etc.

Any help you can provide would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

[edit] mugard

The Wiki for MuGard was deleted on November 24, 2009 by Jinian for being “Unambiguous advertising or promotion.” The article was not written for marketing purposes, but rather to educate chemotherapy or radiation patients who are seeking treatments for oral mucositis, a common side effect of cancer therapies. The sources that were cited throughout the Wiki for MuGard were credible, ranging from scientific publications to news releases and corporate Web sites belonging to the developer of the product.—Preceding unsigned comment added by Intellibridgeir (talkcontribs)

[edit] Rob McDowall

I am completely confused. This page was deleted before as the 'admins' decided that the person was not worthy. I am so annoyed that having taken time to write this, the same admin feels that he can justify deleting it! I would like this to be undeleted.

I'm sorry you're annoyed, but this isn't something we can help you with here. The article was first deleted as a result of the discussion at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rob McDowall, and then deleted as being substantially the same article as was first deleted. If you think either of these deletions were incorrect, first talk it over with the deleting admin, then if you can't resolve the issue, take it to deletion review. Be sure to talk it over with the deleting admin first, because if you don't DRV will kick it out. HTH!--Fabrictramp | talk to me 23:42, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Harry Willis

This page has been deleted. The deletion and move log for the page are provided below for reference.

11:11, 31 May 2009 Spellcast (talk | contribs) deleted "Harry Willis" ‎ (Deleted because expired WP:PROD; Reason given: Unsubstantiated fiction with no references that I can find.)

I am a ex-employee of PGL in France. I worked there in the 1980's and the legend of Harry Willis was already well known when I got there (1983). I recently went to a reunion of ex-PGL employees and we were all talking about him. Someone mentioned that he had been mentioned in Wikipedia so I searched for him and found he had been deleted, although there are links to him from at least 2 other entries (PGL and the Ardeche river).

There are literally thousands of people who know of Harry Willis. Many people have photographs of "him" hanging on a cliff in the Ardeche. He may not be documented in any official literature but that does not make him any less a fictional character than "Harry Potter", any of Terry Pratchett's creations, "Lily of the West", "tooth fairy", Santa or any other fictional, mythical or folklore character. He will have been mentioned in the diaries of countless children and adults who have been on PGL holidays in the Ardeche over the years. Most characters from folklore spent hundreds of years in folk songs and "word of mouth" stories before they were ever written down and you have plenty of them on this site.

If you doubt how well known Harry Willis is then try asking the hundreds of people who have worked in the Ardeche (for PGL and many of the other holiday companies based there) over the last 30 years. Many of them can be found in the various PGL France and Ardeche veterans groups on Facebook.

If you do not reinstate Harry Willis then you should also delete all other references in Wikipedia to any fictional, mythical or folklore character.

Please, Please, undelete the article on Harry Willis.

Many thanks, O1genie (talk) 09:33, 2 December 2009 (UTC)

Trustive (talk|edit|history|logs|links|cache|watch) (restore)

This page was previously reviewed and kindly corrected by Fabrictramp in June this year. It was then deleted a couple of days ago by Bearcat who deemed it too commercial. I had tried to write the page in a factual way (as many other companies have done on Wikipedia) explaining who Trustive is, what they do and for whom the do it. Could I have some feedback as to why the page was recently deleted please? I am happy to make some changes if required and if I know which bits of the text were viewed as too commercial. I would like to get a Trustive page back online asap and so would appreciate your feedback. Many thanks. Oldfieldev (talk) 07:19, 11 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Qik Article in wikipedia

Hi,

Recently, I have an article by the title of "Qik". It has been replaced by another article called "Qik". I would wish to get back that article and can you tell me why it has been replaced by the new article of QIK? My article is about the mobile blogging website and not the Quantas intelligence. Hopeful that you can help me out with that.

Thanks,

Meng Kiat—Preceding unsigned comment added by Mengkiat (talkcontribs)

The Qik article was deleted as advertising that would take a major rewrite to become encyclopedic. I've restored the article and deleted large sections that were fundamentally advertising. Iit still needs more pruning, which I might get a chance to do later today.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 15:35, 29 July 2009 (UTC)

Hi Fabrictramp,

Thanks for your reply. I have seen the "Qik"Article. Could I have the latest version before the deletion? I would just want it for recording purposes. I will also look at the "Qik" article and make some adjustments. It would be great if you can allow me some time before making further changes. Would like to stay in constant contact so that I can have a "Qik" article on Wikipedia. Will also invite other people to contribute to that article.

Thanks alot!

Stifle (talk · contribs) deleted it according to speedy deletion criterion A7, no indication that it meets the guidelines for inclusion. In looking at the deleted article, it reads quite a bit like an advertisement, and your statement that it was written at the request of the members reinforces that.
I'd suggest reading Wikipedia:Notability (organizations and companies) and WP:COI. If you think you can write an unbiased, non advert version of the article that meets the notability requirements, come back here and request that it be userfied so you can have some time to work on it as a subpage of your user page.--Fabrictramp | talk to me 14:23, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
