Add new requests for a new template or updates to existing templates to the bottom of this page. Please be clear about what the template is used for, roughly what it should look like, and which articles it should link to, if any.

For requests regarding stub templates, go to Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals.

A general description and guideline for userboxes can be found at Wikipedia:Userboxes. A detailed instruction to use the userbox template can be found at Template:Userbox. For requests regarding userboxes, go to Wikipedia talk:Userboxes/Ideas.

[edit] Please Explain Acronym

Needed is a template that requests the explanation of an acronym. Please help. I couldn't find such a template in the article Wikipedia:Manual of Style (abbreviations) The template should be one that could be place directly after an unexplained acronym, such as this "citation needed" template: [citation needed] If such a template already exists, please let me know on my talk page. Then I will put a link to it in the article Wikipedia:Manual of Style (abbreviations). Thanks.Boyd Reimer (talk) 13:19, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

I think {{clarify}} could be appropriate:[clarification needed] Svick (talk) 14:09, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Sleepy

I'd like to request a userbox, using the file File:Smiley green alien sleepy.svg, with the text "This user likes to sleep.", possible "loves to sleep", and it should be called: Template:User sleep. Debresser (talk) 02:09, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

BTW, I can make a userbox, I have done so in the past, but I frankly lack the creativity and artistry required to make a nice userbox. Debresser (talk) 02:13, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

See the note at the top of the page: For information on User boxes, see Template:Userbox and Wikipedia:Userboxes. You can make the request at Wikipedia talk:Userboxes/Ideas. --Yarnalgo talk to me 03:06, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
I read that note before I posted this, but didn't see there what you said just now. I saw "For userboxes, try using {{Userbox}} first. A general description and guideline for userboxes can be found at Wikipedia:Userboxes."
So I'll make an edit to this page, clarifying where to go with requests for userboxes, and take my request there. Thank you. Debresser (talk) 04:07, 15 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Aged?

I think that the template Death date and age should be modified. This: {{Death date and age|1993|2|24|1941|4|12|df=yes}} Will return: 24 February 1993 (aged 51) I don't think it should say aged. It should say age. Bugefun (talk) 13:29, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

Please continue your discussion on Template talk:Death date and age and if/when you have an agreement you can place an {{editprotected}} request and an administrator can make the change. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:44, 20 October 2009 (UTC)

[edit] InterTransWiki templates

There's no template to request an article be transwikied to a Wikipedia in a different language. Many non-English articles seem to be created on English Wikipedia, when they should be created in some other language. But for GFDL reasons, a simple copy and paste is inappropriate, so there should be a way to request a transwiki to another language, like we already have for other Wikimedia Foundation projects (ie. {{Copy to wiktionary}} , {{Copy to wikibooks}} , etc - For English)

It also would be useful to adapt the transwiki templates for other Wikimedia Foundation projects to support selecting a target language. (for non-English articles that should be on say... German Wiktionary)

76.66.197.2 (talk) 12:01, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

If an article on the English Wikipedia is written in a language other than English you should tag it with {{Not English}}. This template supports the specification of what language the article is written in; see WP:PNT for more info. If there is an article on the English Wikipedia that you would like translated into a different language the procedure is to go to that language's page for translation (for example, on the German Wikipedia it is). --Yarnalgo talk to me 03:45, 20 November 2009 (UTC)
Neither of those is what I was talking about. {{notenglish}} raison d'etre is to translate a non-English article into English, not to copy the article to a non-English Wikipedia. I'm not talking about translation at all. If article X is written in language Y on the English Wikipedia, language Y not being English, a template to request that article be transwikied to Y's Wikipedia would be useful, since transwiki will preserve the edit history of the article, which would be lost if a copy-and-paste-move were done to transfer the page to the non-English version of Wikipedia. A copy-and-paste-move would violate GFDL, were the version on English Wikipedia be deleted, since it would in effect be a cut-and-paste-move with no attribution history, and many non-English articles on English Wikipedia get deleted for want of translators.
If a dictionary defintion is written in English on English Wikipedia, I'd put a {{copy to wiktionary}} onto it, but what if the dictionary definition is written in Spanish, but is on English Wikipedia? This transwiki template does NOT take a language parameter.
76.66.197.2 (talk) 08:37, 21 November 2009 (UTC)
I think I understand what you mean. How is this:
You can change the parameter to whatever language you need. I'm not familiar with the policy for this sort of transwiki so it might be missing some things. Jkasd 08:06, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks, that's what I was referring to. 76.66.197.2 (talk) 13:33, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Requested name modification to navigation template

The name of the navigational template below should be modified to Cape Canaveral and Merritt Island launch sites, as most of the sites listed are on Cape Canaveral, not Merritt Island. Only Launch Complex 39 is on Merritt Island. Thanks. RadioBroadcast (talk) 05:02, 23 November 2009 (UTC)

Done. Would you like the template to be moved to a different title as well? Jkasd 07:52, 23 November 2009 (UTC)
