This page is to coordinate efforts to get more free content recordings onto Wikipedia to illustrate music topics, and other areas which would benefit from recordings. This project is mainly to gather forces to record larger works, however if shorter solo clips are needed for a page those requests are welcome as well.
The work recorded must have passed into the Public domain in order to be eligible for recording. The recording must then be released under a Commons compatible license (see Commons:Licensing for more information). Before you request a recording here, please make sure that there is not already a freely licensed recording available, checking Commons, Wikipedia:Sound/list, and other sources first.
Works should be uploaded in the Ogg or MIDI formats, and should be uploaded directly to Commons for use on other Wikimedia projects and add it to Category:Sound. For help with Ogg and MIDI, see Wikipedia:Media help.
Requesters should add {{Reqaudio}} to the talk page of the article for which the recording is being requested. Include an optional parameter to specify what category of sounds it falls under, and an optional second parameter to specify what the sound should be of.
- Example:
{{reqaudio|medical sounds|a heart click}}
Adding this template automatically adds the page to Category:Wikipedia requested audio.
If it's a pronunciation you are looking for, you may consult Commons:Pronunciation files requests at Wikimedia Commons as well.
Volunteers may want to add themselves to Category:Wikipedians who take recording requests.

[edit] Requests
Post new requests on top and please include:
- Full name of work: The full name of the work, including opus number and version, if applicable.
- Article that recording would illustrate: The article(s) that would be illustrated by this recording.
- Freely licensed score: Try to find a freely licensed score and include a link. Good places to look for scores include the IMSLP [1], Choral Public Domain Library [2] and the Werner Icking Music Archive [3]. You could also find old public-domain scores at a local library and upload images to IMSLP.
- Work forces: Please included necessary forces for the work (i.e. number of violins, tenoroons, etc.)
- Request submitted by: (Your signature)
- Volunteers comment: Space for comments by volunteers and others.
[edit] Meet Me in the Land of Grapico
- Full name of work: Meet Me in the Land of Grapico by Peter DeRose (1916)
- Article that recording would illustrate: Grapico (in process)
- Freely licensed score: Meet Me in the Land of Grapico
- Work forces: Piano and voice with Tin Pan Alley jazz sound. Obtaining an original recording would be just as good. See my efforts in this regard. Piano alone would be fine and could be replaced if a voice and piano recording can be made.

- Volunteers comment:
- "Underworld theme" from Super Mario Bros.
- Can't find a clean 30 second OGG sample
- Need the 30 second OGG sample converted from an NSF dump of Super Mario Bros.
- Request submitted by -- Taric25 19:02, 3 January 2008 (UTC)
- Volunteers comment:
I think I have one. Let me check and I will convert it.
- The recording of the whole sonata to illustrate the article about it would be ideal.
- In the public domain, but currently not on the IMSLP - commonly found in music libraries though
- Organ
- Request submitted by -- Clavecin 21:14, 23 June 2007 (UTC)
- Volunteers comment:
- "Ho un non so che" - aria from Agrippina - HMV 6. Could also be used in La Resurrezione and Il pastor fido, as Handel re-used it a lot.
- Can't find a free score.
- Required: Soprano, violins, continuo, but could easily be done with just soprano and harpsichord/piano.
- Request submitted by -- Moreschi 13:06, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Volunteers comment:
- "Why should men quarrel" for The Indian Queen, Z 630.
- can't find a link.
- For soprano, recorder/flute, and continuo, here lute is best.
- Request submitted by -- Moreschi 13:06, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Volunteers comment:
- "I am come to lock all fast" for The Fairy-Queen, Z 629.
- No link but I possess a score that is probably out of copyright and I may be able to upload the score for this air.
- Required: Soprano, continuo - here lute is good, I think.
- Request submitted by -- Moreschi 13:06, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Volunteers comment:
- Rinaldo, HWV 7: possibly part or all of the solo writing for the sopranino recorder from the aria "Augelletti".
- Can't find a link.
- Sopranino recorder
- Cheers, Moreschi Deletion! 13:06, 27 December 2006 (UTC)
- Volunteers comment:
- I may have an inroad on this one. It's not the sopranino recorder part, it's more of a complete scene with soprano and chorus. [4] We can't use the pre-restored MP3s, but I'm happy to restore the .wav files. Shoemaker's Holiday (talk) 18:31, 31 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Volunteers
Please include:
- Your instrument(s) or voice part.
- Any other skills or resources you might have to donate, such as a space to record in, instruments you have access to, recording equipment or knowledge.
- Your general area, where you are willing to travel to for this project.
- bassoon (skilled), viola (half-decent amateur), soprano recorder (one third-decent amateur)
- I also have a violin, sopranino and alto recorders, keyboards, a bass clarinet, and a mandolin, in decreasing order of playing proficiency. And a partner I can bring along to record. :-)
- Washington DC area, will travel. Within the DC metro-accessible area, I'll show up even if we don't do anything productive; the more serious and well-organized the request, the farther I am willing to go.
- Soprano
- A chapel space with possible access to an organ for the right project, very basic recording equipment.
- New York City and area, willing to travel within "tri-state area" for well-organised projects.
- Vocals: bass/tenor, somewhere inbetween technically. Guitar (nylon acoustic & electric), D-tuned tin whistle.
- Currently cheap condenser mic (if I get to do a lot I might get something better), PC with regular soundcard as a recorder.
- Tilburg, the Netherlands, anything within 15 km.
- Will be able to take occasional requests for solo flute and piano, possibly low countertenor as well.
- Same as Nazjunk above.
- Piano (Classical or Jazz), Vocals (Bass-Baritone). Limited Clarinet, Brass, Slide Whistle, Kazoo.
- Any recording space can be arranged. Connections to professional audio engineers, people in the know.
- New York City. Will travel for the right project.
[edit] Recordings in progress
[edit] US Presidential campaign songs
- Any of the songs in the excellent Songs America Voted By (Irwin Silber, 1971).
- Many articles on American political history would benefit from these recordings.
- You can get the book in a library, or I'll take it out again and e-mail you the interesting parts.
- Any singer should do (I don't think accompaniment is necessary).
- Pharos 02:54, 19 February 2007 (UTC)

- User:Makemi is working on this one
- See [5]. We should definitely have this for one of the most important pieces of music ever composed.
- Bassoon solo
- Moreschi
-
- Have a bassoonist friend who has said she will make recordings for WIkipedia. Will ask her. Dev920 (Have a nice day!) 11:42, 11 March 2007 (UTC)
