Shortcuts: WP:RREC WP:REQREC

This page is to coordinate efforts to get more free content recordings onto Wikipedia to illustrate music topics, and other areas which would benefit from recordings. This project is mainly to gather forces to record larger works, however if shorter solo clips are needed for a page those requests are welcome as well.

The work recorded must have passed into the Public domain in order to be eligible for recording. The recording must then be released under a Commons compatible license (see Commons:Licensing for more information). Before you request a recording here, please make sure that there is not already a freely licensed recording available, checking Commons, Wikipedia:Sound/list, and other sources first.

Works should be uploaded in the Ogg or MIDI formats, and should be uploaded directly to Commons for use on other Wikimedia projects and add it to Category:Sound. For help with Ogg and MIDI, see Wikipedia:Media help.

Requesters should add {{Reqaudio}} to the talk page of the article for which the recording is being requested. Include an optional parameter to specify what category of sounds it falls under, and an optional second parameter to specify what the sound should be of.

Example: {{reqaudio|medical sounds|a heart click}}

Adding this template automatically adds the page to Category:Wikipedia requested audio.

• Add {{Reqmusic}} for music-related articles, which automatically adds the page to Category:Wikipedia requested music files.
• Add {{Reqaudio-animal}} for animal articles, which automatically adds the page to Category:Wikipedia requested audio of animals.
• Add {{Reqaudio-pr}} to request an audio file with correct pronunciation of that article's title, automatically adding it to Category:Wikipedia requested audio of pronunciations

If it's a pronunciation you are looking for, you may consult Commons:Pronunciation files requests at Wikimedia Commons as well.

Volunteers may want to add themselves to Category:Wikipedians who take recording requests.

1. Full name of work: The full name of the work, including opus number and version, if applicable.
2. Article that recording would illustrate: The article(s) that would be illustrated by this recording.
3. Freely licensed score: Try to find a freely licensed score and include a link. Good places to look for scores include the IMSLP [1], Choral Public Domain Library [2] and the Werner Icking Music Archive [3]. You could also find old public-domain scores at a local library and upload images to IMSLP.
4. Work forces: Please included necessary forces for the work (i.e. number of violins, tenoroons, etc.)

1. "Ho un non so che" - aria from Agrippina - HMV 6. Could also be used in La Resurrezione and Il pastor fido, as Handel re-used it a lot.

1. bassoon (skilled), viola (half-decent amateur), soprano recorder (one third-decent amateur)
2. I also have a violin, sopranino and alto recorders, keyboards, a bass clarinet, and a mandolin, in decreasing order of playing proficiency. And a partner I can bring along to record. :-)
3. Washington DC area, will travel. Within the DC metro-accessible area, I'll show up even if we don't do anything productive; the more serious and well-organized the request, the farther I am willing to go.

2. Many articles on American political history would benefit from these recordings.
3. You can get the book in a library, or I'll take it out again and e-mail you the interesting parts.
