I, or someone I represent, am the subject of an article in Wikipedia. I wish to submit photos of this person for use on Wikipedia and its sister projects.

Email the photo to photosubmission@wikimedia.org

In that email, you must explicitly state:

  1. That you own the copyright on the photo—you photographed it yourself, it is a work for hire (if you are unclear as to the term, please read the hyperlinked article), or the copyright was transferred to you via written statement or operation of law (e.g., inheritance). Please specify which scenario applies.
  2. What copyright license you want to release it under. Whatever license you choose must allow the photo to be freely copied and modified by anyone, including third parties not affiliated with Wikipedia, for any purpose. (See Licensing/Justifications for a detailed explanation of why.) We recommend using the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike 3.0 license.

We are sorry, but we cannot process emails offering us photographs without this information. In particular, we will refuse photographs coming with licensing statements such as "free use on Wikipedia". Bear in mind that we do not guarantee we will use your photo. By submitting a photo to us under one of these licenses, you are allowing anyone to copy and modify this photo for any purpose. This includes using it commercially, but you still retain personality rights that may limit commercial exploitation of your likeness.

It will also help the agents if you provide basic descriptive information about the photo. Who or what is the photo depicting? Where was it taken? On what date was it taken? Who took the photo? Who is the license/copyright attributed to? And finally, in what article(s) would you like the photo to be placed?
