This is a list of Wikipedians who are no longer an integral part of the community. See also Wikipedia:List of administrators/Inactive.

Wikipedians who no longer edit due to confirmed death should instead be added to Wikipedia:Deceased Wikipedians.

Purpose of this list

The purpose of this list is to provide a reminder to us of those who have left and their reasons for doing so.

Please do not add people to this list who were never an integral part of the community. Don't add users with fewer than about 1,000 edits. Do not add people unless you are certain they have left, do not add anonymous users identified by their IP address (they could have created an account and still be contributing, or they might have a roaming IP address) and do not add yourself. Do leave a message on the person's talk page to let them know that you've added them to this list, if they ever should return they can remove themselves.

• People who leave a goodbye message or a {{retired}} template on their user page or elsewhere, and then actually refrain from editing for at least 3 weeks are likely to have left permanently and may be added to the list.
• Wait at least 3 months before listing someone who has simply ceased editing, unless you have some other reason for being certain that they have left.
• In most cases, editors who have gradually adopted a pattern of occasional editing interspersed with long breaks should not be listed merely because they are on one of their long breaks.
• Editors who return are no longer "missing" and should be removed from the list.
• If you add your own user name to the list as one of your final edits, your addition might be reverted since it is theoretically impossible for a "missing" Wikipedian to make an edit.

This page was mentioned in an Economist article on March 6, 2008: "Many who are excited about contributing to the site end up on the “Missing Wikipedians” page: a constantly updated list of those who have decided to stop contributing. It serves as a reminder that frustration at having work removed prompts many people to abandon the project."

• O^O (talk • contribs • count). Last edit May 11, 2007. He/she wrote on August 26, 2006 that he/she had been a frequent contributor since August 2002, had held several personas over the years, and had used "admin accounts, hundreds of 'anonymous' IP addresses, and more user accounts than I could ever tally". Specialized in zen-like answers.
• -- April (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit May 6, 2006 - Final edit was to post a notice advising of future intermittent editing. Has not edited since.
• ²¹² (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit October 24, 2003 - Final edit stated that this user was "Taking a break.". Has not edited since.
• !! (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit December 2, 2007, left after the Durova arbitration case.
• -5- (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit September 27, 2009. Contributed heavily to Pearl Jam and related articles. Left a message stating he doesn't get any more enjoyment out of editing.
• 52 Pickup (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · moves · rights) - Administrator who stopped editing on May 9, 2008. Made three more edits on October 25; the last one leaving a retirement notice on his talk page. Made one edit on April 6, 2009.
• 168... (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit: April 21, 2004 - Blanked user & user talk pages March 7, 2004, returning to make a handful of edits (including the final edit) to an RfAr in April 2004. More details available at RfDA.
• 17Drew (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · moves · rights) - Administrator, previously User:ShadowHalo. Made almost 21,000 edits; made two edits in 2008, pointing to his new account user:PiracyFundsTerrorism, which made sporadic edits in August 2009.

• Abu badali (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit: September 11, 2007 - Left over concerns regarding non-free content usage, per the final edit. The final edit also indicates the user may return in "some months", depending upon progress in this area. Has edited twice in 2008, making comments in discussions over the policy.
• Adam Carr (talk • contribs • count) - Started contributing September 2003. After many months of increasing frustration, stopped editing regularly February 15, 2007, then posted May 6 that he would no longer contribute to Wikipedia. Made a few sporadic edits afterwards.
• Adamsan (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit: May 1, 2006 - Replaced most user page content with "I give up. You win." on April 29, 2006, then removed that message with the final edit. May have left over concerns with external linking, per this edit to Talk:Stonehenge.
• Ae-a (talk • contribs • count) - Highly active since 2005, worked on a lot of redirects. Last edited July 7, 2008.
• Affenhausen (talk • contribs • count) - created 107 new articles. Last edit March 31, 2006.
• Agtfjott (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit August 30, 2006, except for two edits on November 12, 2009.
• Aksi great (talk • contribs • count) - prolific Indian Wikipedian, has not edited regularly since May 2008. Last edit July 30, 2009.

• Balcer (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit on September 8, 2007; currently works on Wikimedia Commons.
• Banes (talk • contribs • count) - On August 29, 2006 he left a retirement message on his userpage, saying he would be busy for the next few months, though he continued editing sporadically. Last edit November 17, 2006.

• Ben (talk • contribs • count) - Highly experienced with templates, improving several of them. Last edit was on May 18, 2007.
• Big Adamsky (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit April 27, 2006.
• Bill Oaf (talk • contribs • count) - Stopped editing regularly after April 20, 2007. Last edit November 9, 2008.
• Blankfaze (talk • contribs • count) - Has not intentionally edited since the summer of 2007. Made one edit on June 15, 2008.

• BoojiBoy (talk • contribs • count) - Almost 9000 edits, stopped prolific editing in August 2006, then returned in May of 2007 before retiring for good on June 11, 2007. • Bornintheguz (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit October 3, 2005. A very prolific contributor to articles about soccer.
• BostonMA (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit July 17, 2007; stopped editing proflicially in February, a month after a failed RfA. 6000+ edits. No reason given.
• Brat32 (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit August 24, 2006; blanked her/his userpage and replaced it with the message "I'm gone."
• Brossow (talk • contribs • count) Posted wikibreak message on user and user talk pages on June 6, 2006, and has been editing sporadically since. Last edit August 15, 2007.

• Chriscf (talk • contribs • count) - Stopped edited Wikipedia on 31 March 2007 without explanation, though after displaying frustration for being blocked. Frequently commented at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion, and contributed to a wide variety of articles on subjects including railway stations, U.S. interstates, politics, and the internet.
• ChrisGriswold (talk • contribs • count) - Former administrator. Last edit on August 27, 2007.
• Chronographos (talk • contribs • count) - Missing since October 14, 2005. Made one edit to his user page September 6, 2006.

• Cryptic (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · moves · rights) - Administrator. Stopped editing abruptly in June 2008 while being confronted for issuing a bad block.
• CryptoDerk (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit January 30, 2006; modified userpage to "I'm not really active on Wikipedia anymore," on July 14, 2006. On March 24, 2007, the user made another edit to his page, adjusting his age in historical context.
• Csernica (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit on December 21, 2007. On long wikibreak which may be permanent.
• Curps (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · moves · rights) - Administrator. Declared a semi-Wikivacation on May 13, 2006 and made some bot edits, blocks, and deletions up until June 26, 2006, and then declared a long-term Wikivacation on August 1, 2006 and has not edited since.
• CyborgTosser (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · moves · rights) - Administrator. Last edit May 3, 2007, after having a total of four edits between February 11, 2007 and May 2, 2007. He will be missed.

• Danakil (talk • contribs • count) - This user edited for only one and a half months, from August 1 to September 14, 2004, yet during that time made 3,009 edits. Although his pages moves were controversial, he was responsible for the systematic and correct categorization of hundreds of programming languages and other software related articles.
• DanDs (talk • contribs • count) - Expanded many articles to very good B-class articles, and helped to get The Sword of Shannara to GA, but he left suddenly on July 19th, returning only 3 times after that, including blanking his userpage on 5 September 2008.
• Darkfred (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit September 27, 2006.
• Darkspots (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit November 23, 2008. Announced retirement on talk page.
• Darthgriz98 (talk · contribs · blocks · protections · deletions · moves · rights) - Administrator. Announced retirement in July 2008. Last edit November 1, 2008.
• Darth Panda (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit February 11, 2009. User and talk page deleted per RTV.

• Edeans (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit March 30, 2007. Left after the Essjay incident.
• Eequor (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit February 16, 2006 in which she left a note at Esperanza that said "I don't expect to come back again."
• Efghij (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit November 18, 2003.
• Elaragirl (talk • contribs • count) - Placed a retirement template on her user page on March 28, 2007, and made her last edits May 27, 2007.
• ElBenevolente (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit January 8, 2006, arbitrary departure occured after acknowledging a user with the {{welcome}} tag. As of April 21, 2006, all attempts to contact user in question have been unsuccessful.
  • The Benevolent One made four subsequent edits (three of which regarding the same content edit) on November 15 2007.^{[5] [6] [7] [8]} El B was the editor who welcomed me to Wikipedia; It's sad to think we've lost his continued contribution. --SSBohio 02:52, 19 January 2008 (UTC)
• Emax (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit February 18, 2005. Disappeared without any notice or indication of reason.
• Essexmutant (talk • contribs • count) - Surrendered his adminship and left a departure message on his userpage on September 12, 2006 and made his final four edits 12 days later.
• Essjay (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit March 4, 2007. He retired after being exposed by the New Yorker. He has surrendered his various flags on every wikimedia project. See Essjay controversy.
• Estrose (talk • contribs • count) - Last edit April 30, 2006.
