This is a list of Wikipedians who are no longer an integral part of the community. See also Wikipedia:List of administrators/Inactive. Wikipedians who no longer edit due to confirmed death should instead be added to Wikipedia:Deceased Wikipedians. Purpose of this list The purpose of this list is to provide a reminder to us of those who have left and their reasons for doing so. Please do not add people to this list who were never an integral part of the community. Don't add users with fewer than about 1,000 edits. Do not add people unless you are certain they have left, do not add anonymous users identified by their IP address (they could have created an account and still be contributing, or they might have a roaming IP address) and do not add yourself. Leave a message on the person's talk page to let them know that you've added them to this list, if they ever should return they can remove themselves. -
- People who leave a goodbye message or a {{retired}} template on their user page or elsewhere, and then actually refrain from editing for at least 3 weeks are likely to have left permanently and may be added to the list.
- Wait at least 3 months before listing someone who has simply ceased editing, unless you have some other reason for being certain that they have left.
- In most cases, editors who have gradually adopted a pattern of occasional editing interspersed with long breaks should not be listed merely because they are on one of their long breaks.
- Editors who return are no longer "missing" and should be removed from the list.
- If you add your own user name to the list as one of your final edits, your addition might be reverted since it is theoretically impossible for a "missing" Wikipedian to make an edit.
This page was mentioned in an Economist article on March 6, 2008: "Many who are excited about contributing to the site end up on the “Missing Wikipedians” page: a constantly updated list of those who have decided to stop contributing. It serves as a reminder that frustration at having work removed prompts many people to abandon the project." The entries with the mop icon  beside their name are Wikipedia administrators, or have been at one time.

- Firebug (talk • contribs • count) - Left on January 1, 2006, due to the Userbox controversy. There is a goodbye message on his user page that contains explicit language.
- Fir0002 (talk • contribs • count) - Prolific contributor of images with over 150 featured pictures retired on his fifth Wikibirthday, August 31, 2009. Statement at his user page says he's become disillusioned with the image policy and feels images with commercial restrictions should be allowed.

- Revolutionaryluddite (talk • contribs • count) - requested user page deletion; stopped edits 2007/11/13. Has made some smaller edits since then.
- Rfl (talk • contribs • count) A Wikipedia and Commons administrator, inactive since September 2005, last edit January 11, 2008.
- Rhion (talk • contribs • count) - An active editor especially on Welsh topics, he left a farewell message on his talk page on January 9, 2007. Left one further message at the Welsh Wikipedians' notice board on January 28 requesting his userpage be blanked and offering a further explanation for his departure. Made one edit on November 28, 2008.
- RickK (talk • contribs • count) - One of the most active administrators on recent changes patrol, blanked his talk page and left a goodbye message on his user page. His exit came after a revert war where he was removing a copyright violation, in which he was blocked for violating the three revert rule by a fellow administrator. (see here). Appeared on Simple Wikipedia on July 21, 2005. He came back on December 23, 2005 to protect his user page and leave a message. His account was later compromised on July 16, 2008 and was blocked indefinitely.
- Rintrah (talk • contribs • count) - Declared account "permanently inactive" on Feburary 22, 2007, and hasn't edited since.
- Rizzleboffin (talk • contribs • count) - Quit Wikipedia on July 12, 2007.
- Robbiegiles (talk • contribs • count) - Stopped editing without explanation. Last edit December 9, 2008.
- Robchurch (talk • contribs • count) - Left a message on his user page on July 3, 2006, saying he'd be "getting out of the way". Only a handful of edits since then, the last on May 24, 2007, supporting an RfA.
- Robert McClenon (talk • contribs • count) - vanished suddenly after March 20, 2006.
- Rogper (talk • contribs • count) - Prominent on the Swedish Wikipedia, he stopped editing here July 2005. Returned briefly on March 16 and 17, 2006, and February 25, 2007, but hasn't edited since.
