| Files for deletion
Files for deletion (FfD) is for listing images and other media files which are unneeded. Files that have been listed here for more than 7 days are eligible for deletion if there is no clear consensus in favour of keeping them or no objections to deletion have been raised. To quote the non-free content criteria, "it is the duty of users seeking to include or retain content to provide a valid rationale; those seeking to remove or delete it are not required to show that one cannot be created — see burden of proof." For undeletion requests, first contact the administrator who deleted the file. If you are unable to resolve the issue with that administrator, the matter should be brought to deletion review. If you have questions if something should be deleted, consider asking at Media Copyright Questions. | Examples of what you may request here
- Obsolete - The file has been replaced by a better version.
- Orphan - The file is not used on any pages in Wikipedia.
- Unencyclopedic - The file doesn't seem likely to be useful in any Wikimedia project.
- Low quality - The file is of an extremely low resolution, distorted, or has other physical image quality concerns.
- Copyright violation - The file might be used in violation of copyright.

- {{subst:ncd|image name on Commons}} if the file now exists on Commons, or {{subst:ncd}} for files with the same name on Commons. (Don't nominate protected images, they are usually locally uploaded and protected since they are used in an interface message or in a highly used template, thus they are high-risk.)
IV. For blatant copyright infringements, use speedy deletion by tagging the file {{db-f9}} V. Suspected copyright violations shouldn't be listed here. - If a file is listed as public domain or under a free license, but lacks verification of this (either by an OTRS ticket number or a notice on the source website), tag it as {{subst:npd}}.
- For other suspected copyright infringements or licensing issues, use Wikipedia:Possibly unfree files.
VI. Files that are hosted on Wikimedia Commons cannot be deleted via this process. Please use the Commons deletion page instead. VII. If a file is appropriately licensed and could be usable elsewhere, consider copying it to the Wikimedia Commons instead of listing it for deletion. - Delete. The image is copyright, though the information in it is not. It is possible to modify/redraw diagrams from Brassey's Naval Annual to show the correct armour thicknesses. - Delete There is already the {{BarnSakura Award}} and the {{BarnLoli Award}} for anime and manga related subjects which are better design. Besides, there is absolutely no need for a third anime/manga barnstar award. And based on the description of the image, this is likely tomfoolery by the Something Awful crowd that have been causing trouble over the last month. - Personally, I think it is an ugly image. And as I've and others from the anime and manga wikiproject have stated, there is no reason to have a third "anime barnstar". It's a moot point now, but if this image were freely licensed and not otherwise unsuitable, there is no reason not to allow its use as a personal award. - Rationale for this image claims that it is not replaceable as there is "no photo on Wikipedia showing a DC-10 in the MDC livery". This seems a very weak reason to be using a non-free image when Commons has so very many free ones. WP:NFCC#8 requires that the use of this image "would significantly increase readers' understanding of the topic, and its omission would be detrimental to that understanding". - Comment - I agree that there is no hard evidence that the image is per-1923. Considering that the subject in question is a historic Puerto Rican figure and that the image may be not-replaceable, I believe that it may meet the Non-free fair use criteria and have tagged it as {{Non-free fair use in}} (if I am correct, that is why we have said tag), with a proper rationale as required by Wikipedia policy. - This is a bad fair use rationale. This is a high interest news story and the AP makes money by selling images exactly like this. They are losing out on potential revenue. The picture depicts the whole plane in relatively high resolution. If this were three or four months from now, fair use would make sense. - As to whether the article contains too many images as a whole, I dispute that. (See my comments on the two BBC1 logos below). After all, the very topic of the article is the history of the BBC's idents; and the legal fair use case is overwhelming.
- With regard to this particular image, it's nothing particularly stunning; but I think the channel, as the representative of the BBC's global ambition, is significant; and the 1999 image is useful for showing when BBC World adopted the (basically still current) BBC News look, although it is also useful to show how this has subsequently been revised. - Keep. The "Computer Originated World" animation (or "COW") was - and to some extent still is - seen as completely groundbreaking. Generated live every usage for six years, it pushed the capability of computer graphics at the time to their limits, and radically dusted-off the BBC's face to the world. (Indeed it still stands up well today). See [2] for a good article on the technology behind it. The reader's understanding is hugely improved by being able to see, and assess for themselves, what is being talked about, and how it compared to what went before and what came after. This image is eminently justified under NFCC #8.
- As for the general claim made above, the article does not contain "too many fair use images". It contains an appropriate number of fair use images for the purpose of directly adding to reader understanding of the very topic of the article, namely the History of BBC television idents -- and is in conformance both with U.S. Fair Use law (compare Bill Graham Archives vs. Dorling Kindersley) and with Wikipedia policy.
