Problem

There's a factual error in an article.

Important note: Wikipedia's articles are edited by volunteer Internet users. What they state is not the official point of view of the Wikimedia Foundation.

People answering on mailing-lists and other email services also are volunteers. They do not have the resources to research information or correct articles; thus, it is useless to send them scientific papers, bibliographies or questions on the content. Please use the article's "talk page" as described below.

Solution

Wikipedia is a wiki, so you can correct the error yourself!

  • Go to the article and click edit this page near the top.
Never edited before? Read the Introduction to Wikipedia. Please provide an "edit summary" such as "removed counterfactual information without sources".
  • If the matter is sensitive, we suggest you discuss it with other users before making changes. See below.

Want help with fixing it?

  • Leave a message on the article's talk page; accessed by clicking the "discussion" tab when viewing the page.
This is like a message board about the article. Click the "new section" tab to post a new message, and sign it by entering four tildes (~~~~).

Is the article about you or someone you represent?

  • We have a page for handling significant factual errors reported by people who are directly affected by the article. (You can fix minor factual errors, like incorrect dates or spellings, on your own: please see our policy on autobiographies for more information.)

This is a very important topic and I demand to be able to speak with somebody on the phone about this terrible error.

  • The Wikimedia Foundation is, legally speaking, a hosting provider—it provides a computing infrastructure for others to write articles. It has absolutely no editorial service—no staff for running fact checks or make corrections. Some volunteers answer email complaints about libel, copyright infringement, and obvious vandalism, but we have absolutely no service for processing requests for changes sent by email or phone.
