This page is a temporary forum for the processing of username changes that relate to single unified login (SUL). We are glad to deal with your SUL-related concerns. However, please be patient, since we're still working out the bugs in the process. The nature of the process depends on your situation:

• If you already have an account on this wiki and would simply like it renamed to match the name of your global account, see these instructions.
• If you already have an account on this wiki and would like it renamed to match your global account, but the name you want is already taken, see these instructions.
• If you don't have an account on this wiki yet, and would like to create one to match your global account, but the name is already taken, see these instructions.

If you are not renaming an account to resolve a single user login conflict, please direct your request to one of the normal Changing username pages. If you are trying to make your Wikipedia username match that of your accounts on other (that is, unaffiliated with Wikimedia) websites, then your request does not belong here.

[edit] Simple rename

• Log in to your present account.
• Click here to place a request.
  • Replace the text "CURRENT" with your present username.
  • Replace "NEW" with the username to which you wish to be renamed.
  • Fill in a reason where indicated but do not add anything in the "subject/headline" box.
  • Replace "FULLURL" with the full url of a link to a page on your home wiki where you have confirmed that it really is you making the request.
• Make sure that you have spelled both names correctly. Save the page.
• Check back periodically to answer any questions that may arise regarding your request. Do not be surprised if you suddenly cannot log in to your old account; this just means that you should log in under your new name, as the request has been fulfilled.
• Please be patient. It may take a few days for your request to be completed.

• Log in to your present account.
• Click here to place your request.
  • Replace "CURRENT NAME" with your current username.
  • Replace "REQUESTED NAME" with the username you wish to usurp.
  • Replace "FULLURL" with the full url of a link to a page on your home wiki where you have confirmed that it really is you making the request.
  • You may include some reason for the change beneath the template if you wish. Leave the "Subject/headline" field blank.
• Make sure both names are spelled correctly. Click "Save page".
• Your request is now complete and ready to be processed. We will get to it as soon as we can.

[edit] Partial usurpation

• If you do not have an account already at the English Wikipedia and have already unified your global account, you do not need to create one. You may place your request without logging in. (However, if you are concerned about your privacy, you may create an account like "<Your username> (SUL)"; it is not required, though.) Please make sure to confirm on your home wiki that the IP making the request really is you.
• Click here to place your request.
  • Replace "REQUESTED NAME" with the username you wish to usurp.
  • Replace "CONFIRMATION LINK" with the full url of a link to a page on your home wiki where you have confirmed that it really is you making the request.
  • Beneath the template, note any other relevant information. Leave the "Subject/headline" field blank.
• Make sure the name you want is spelled correctly and that the confirmation link works. Click "Save page".
• Your request is now complete and ready to be processed. We will get to it as soon as we can.

[edit] Notes

• When the rename has been completed, your account will have been renamed, and any contributions you have made (including deleted contributions) will be reattributed to your new account as a background process. Your account preferences, watchlist contents, password, etc. will all be preserved, and your user and user talk pages will have been moved to the new name.

  Note: The process responsible for reallocating old contributions is currently dependent upon the job queue mechanism. As such, you may find old contributions do not immediately appear under your new account; this is perfectly normal. Updates should take at most a day to complete, although the length of time will vary according to the size of the job queue on this wiki, and the status of the server processes which process this queue.

• The change will appear in the user rename log and the request will be moved to the archives in the interest of transparency. It is not possible to rename accounts without an entry being created in the log.
• This change will not affect signatures you have already left on talk pages, or other places where you signed your username with ~~~~. Those pages will continue to display your signature (including the link to your old username) unless edited manually.
• Be aware: Once you have been renamed, your old account will no longer exist and may potentially be recreated by a third party. This is true even if your old account pages have been redirected towards your new account. To guard against impersonation, you may wish to recreate the old account yourself.
