According to Wikipedia notablity guidelines, a topic is presumed to be notable if it has received significant coverage in reliable secondary sources that are independent of the subject. Given this information, a subject with a single source does not merit a standalone article. There are other inherent problems with an article containing a single source.
[edit] Subject's own siteOne of the least permissible articles are those in which the lone external link or source is the subject's own site. Not only does this have the problem with the single source issue, but is also a conflict of interest. Any company, organization, group, or individual interest has the ability to produce a web site, so therefore, one's own site cannot be used to establish notability. In some cases, information may be taken from a subject's own site after notability has been established. An article that relies primarily on information from the subject itself should be deleted, possibly speedy deleted. [edit] Tagging problematic articlesThe template {{onesource}} can be added to the top of articles with one source. For sections, the template {{onesource|section}} can be added. |
