Alexis Gilbert "Lexie" Stewart (born September 27, 1965) is Martha Stewart's daughter and the co-host of Whatever with Alexis and Jennifer on Sirius Satellite Radio. She also currently co-hosts a TV show on the Fine Living Network, called Whatever, Martha, in which she and co-host Jennifer Koppelman Hutt make fun of old Martha Stewart Living episodes.
[edit] Biography[edit] Early lifeStewart was born in New York City and raised in New York and at her parents' homes in Westport, Connecticut and Easthampton, New York. Her father, Andrew Stewart, and her mother divorced in 1990; she and her father are now estranged. Stewart attended prep school at The Putney School in Vermont and graduated from Barnard College, her mother's alma mater. [edit] Career[edit] Current projectsStewart currently co-hosts Whatever with Alexis & Jennifer on Sirius Satellite Radio. Stewart and radio partner Jennifer Koppelman Hutt talk about topics ranging from pop culture to personal relationships. The show is billed as being about "whatever" the two women are thinking, reading, or hearing. Alexis' irreverence and brutal honesty add a unique and entertaining dimension to the radio show. Stewart and Hutt's TV show, Whatever, Martha, premiered on the Fine Living Network on September 16, 2008. [edit] Personal lifeStewart married John R. Cuti, a lawyer, in 1997. Cuti, who attended NYU Law School at the same time as JFK, Jr., played lead guitar for The Inflatables. He also served as a trial lawyer during Martha Stewart's legal proceedings, alongside her lead attorney Robert Morvillo. Stewart and Cuti separated long before the government indicted her mother (which happened in June 2003). They were not legally divorced until mid-2004, after the trial was over. Stewart said on Larry King Live and on The Howard Stern Show that she's dating someone new. Stewart and her mother have reportedly had a contentious relationship at times, but they became closer as Stewart grew older. Their relationship became stronger during her mother's legal battles and during the time she spent in federal prison at Alderson, West Virginia. Stewart was a frequent visitor and made a high-profile exit with her mother on a private jet escorting her to freedom (actually to home confinement) on March 4, 2005. Stewart is a vegetarian. [1] On October 9, 2007, Stewart appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show to discuss her recent struggle to conceive a biological child.[2] She stated that she spends approximately $28,000 per month on fertility drugs and the expenses of undergoing intracytoplasmic sperm injection with her own eggs and sperm from a sperm bank, which she had already performed three times when the episode aired. Her mother has helped her underwrite these costs. [edit] Footnotes
