Weather loaches don't like full tropical temperatures for more than a few weeks, it's best for them in coldwater or sub tropical. The name comes from their "activeness" when the weather is going to change dramaticly. when they do swim about very fast, don't be alarmed. These fish can sometimes catch whitespot and fungal problems but if the water quality is good there should not be a problem. Males have larger more triangular pectoral fins than the smaller rounded pectoral females. Breeding is rare but raising the temp and the water flow at the same time usually triggers spawning in the wild. Misgurnus is a genus of loaches. Commonly known as weatherfishes or weather loaches, they are commonly eaten in Asia.
