Wayne Allwine (February 7, 1947 – May 18, 2009)^[1] was an American voice actor, a sound effects editor and foley artist for Walt Disney Studios and the third voice of Mickey Mouse, a role he assumed from Jimmy MacDonald. Allwine was born in Glendale, California.

Allwine's first appearance as Mickey was voicing the animated lead-ins for The New Mickey Mouse Club in 1977. His first appearance as Mickey for a theatrical release was in the 1983 featurette Mickey's Christmas Carol and he provided the voice for Mickey Mouse until his death in 2009. In Mickey's Christmas Carol he also voiced the old man on the street at the start of the movie and the two weasels in the Christmas future scene.

He also starred in films such as The Prince and the Pauper (1990), and Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers (2004), and the TV series Mickey Mouse Works (1999-2000), Disney's House of Mouse (2001-2003), and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse (2006-2009). He provided Mickey's voice too for nearly every entry in the popular Kingdom Hearts series of video games, which was done in collaboration with Japanese video game company Square Enix. Wayne had already finished recording for the Nintendo DS game Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days before his passing.

He had done the voice of Mickey Mouse longer than anyone else as of 2009. Walt Disney did it from 1928 to 1947 as well as supplying Mickey's voice for animated portions of the original Mickey Mouse Club television show (ABC-TV, 1955-59) while Jimmy MacDonald did it on a regular/recurring basis from 1947 to 1977. In addition to his voice work, Allwine had also been a sound effects editor on Disney films and TV shows including Splash (1984) and Three Men and a Baby (1987); as well as Innerspace (1987), Alien Nation (1988) and Star Trek V: The Final Frontier for other studios.

Allwine also provided the voice of Felix the Cat in Felix the Cat Saves Christmas who was his first and only non-Disney character.

The last Disney product to feature his voice work, Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days, has a dedication to his memory.

Allwine was married to Russi Taylor, the current voice of Minnie Mouse. They wed in Hawaii in 1991. They were both named Disney Legends in 2008.

Allwine died on Monday, May 18, 2009, at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles from complications due to diabetes. Taylor was by his side at the time of his death.^[2]The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse special Choo Choo Express was dedicated to him.
