According to the United States Census Bureau, Washington Township covers an area of 47.61 square miles (123.3 square kilometers); of this, 47.43 square miles (122.84 square kilometers, 99.63 percent) is land and 0.18 square miles (0.46 square kilometers, 0.37 percent) is water. The White River defines the northeastern border of the township.
