Coordinates: 32°35′53″S 115°38′38″E / 32.598°S 115.644°E Wannanup is a residential suburb in Western Australia, located 12 kilometres (7 mi) southwest of Mandurah and 87 kilometres (54 mi) south-southwest of the state capital, Perth. It is surrounded on three sides by water — the Indian Ocean to the west, the Harvey Estuary to the east and the Dawesville Channel to the south — and is home to the Port Bouvard development.
[edit] DemographicsAt the 2006 census, Wannanup had a population of 1,958 people[1] — up from 754 at the 2001 census.[2] [edit] PoliticsWannanup did not have a polling place at the election, but at the 2004 federal election, the nearest polling place at Dawesville recorded a 60.59% primary vote for the centre-right Liberal Party,[3] while at the 2005 state election, the Liberals received 43.8% of the vote compared to 36.8% for the centre-left Australian Labor Party and 9.2% for the Nationals.[4] [edit] References
