Walter Lee Barnes (January 26, 1918 – September 6, 1998) was an American football offensive lineman in the National Football League for the Philadelphia Eagles. He played college football at Louisiana State University.

[edit] Acting career

As an actor he was particularly active in Western and adventure films. His nicknames as an actor were "Piggy Barnes" and "Barney Barnes". Some of this more notable appearances included Bronco (TV in 1958) and Rio Bravo (film in 1959). From 1960 to 1969, Barnes stayed in Europe and, while there, appeared in Spaghetti Westerns, Pirate movies, and some Karl May movies.

Barnes returned to the United States in 1969 and appeared in more films and television series, which included The High Chaparral. He retired from acting in 1987 and became increasingly ill due to his Diabetes. Barnes died on September 6, 1998.
