Wagner Lamounier is a former vocalist of Brazilian heavy metal band Sepultura, but most famous for having created and led the Extreme metal band Sarcófago from 1985 until it disbanded in 2000. [edit] Life and careerLamounier sang briefly with Sepultura during the early part of the band's career, contributing the lyrics to the song "Antichrist" (referred to his own moniker) featured in the band's earliest releases.[1] He then moved to his own project which, while less commercially successful than Sepultura, is universally hailed as a major influence on the most extreme spectrum of metal music, being revered by Black, Thrash and Death metal fans. Lamounier's band, despite changing sound and style through its career has never been accused of "selling out" or to pursue commercial success at the detriment of artistic integrity. Ten years after leaving the band, he revealed personal information about his former bandmates. In response, Sepultura's former frontman, now with Soulfly, Max Cavalera wrote a song called Bumbklatt about him. The polyedric Wagner Lamounier is currently a professor of economic science and applied statistic at Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, Brazil.[2] [edit] Bands[edit] References
