WBNS (1460 AM, "1460 The Fan") is a radio station that broadcasts from Columbus, Ohio. The station currently broadcasts a sports talk format and carries ESPN talk programming. WBNS is also the radio flagship of the Ohio State Buckeyes radio network as well as being the AM flagship for the Columbus Blue Jackets radio network. It is also the Columbus radio home of the Cleveland Indians. Local programming on WBNS-AM includes "The Big Show" with Bruce Hooley and former Ohio State Buckeye football players Chris Spielman and Kirk Herbstreit on weekday afternoons and "The Midday Show" with Mike Ricordotti and Scott "Torgy" Torgerson (The Common Man and The Torg) airs each weekday. As of Monday, January 26, 2009 at 4 PM, the station began simulcasting on its sister station, WBNS-FM as "97.1 The Fan". WBNS is one of five stations remaining in the U.S. to broadcast from a Blaw-Knox tower, a tower with a distinctive diamond-shaped cantilever design.
