The Vltava ( In August 2002 a flood of the Vltava killed several people and caused massive damage and disruption along its length. The best-known of the classical Czech composer Bedřich Smetana's set of six symphonic poems Má vlast ("My Fatherland") is called Vltava (or The Moldau), and is a musical depiction of the river's course through Bohemia. Torgau on the banks of the Elbe River in Northwestern Saxony is the most famous meeting of Red and American army troops, having been the first. But subsequent meetings included at the Vltava. This is lost in history, but not a surprise, as surrenders continued until 16 May 1945, while Tornau was 25 April 1945.
