Victor R. Ramirez is the current State Delegate for District 47 in Prince George's County, Maryland. He was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, in 1974. His family soon after moved to the United States and he lived in Mount Rainier, Maryland.

Ramirez attended Mt. Rainier and Thomas S. Stone Elementary, Hyattsville Middle School, and graduated from Northwestern High School. He received his B.A. from Frostburg State University in 1996 and his J.D from St. Thomas School of Law in Miami in 2001. [edit] Career
Ramirez was admitted to the Maryland Bar in 2001 and began a practice in his own name. He was elected as State Delegate in 2003. [edit] In the legislatureRamirez has been a member of House of Delegates since January 8, 2003. He is currently assigned to the House Judiciary Committee where he serves on the criminal justice subcommittee. Ramirez is also a member of the Joint Committee on Federal Relations and has served as a member of the Special Committee on Higher Education Affordability and Accessibility (2003-04), the Ways and Means Committee, (2003-06), the Ways and Mean's subcommittee on education (2003-04), finance resources subcommittee, (2003-06) tax & revenue subcommittee, 2004-06). Ramirez hasChair, Law Enforcement and State-Appointed Boards Committee, Prince George's County Delegation, 2007- (vice-chair, 2003-06). Member, Maryland Educators Caucus, 2005-; Maryland Veterans Caucus, 2005-. Ramirez caused a lot of controversy in January 2007 when he proposed a bill that would allow illegal immigrants to attend college paying in-state tuition rates at public colleges and universities. He was highly criticized by Richard Impallaria Republican Delegate from Baltimore County who said that the bill was "the height of arrogance."[1] [edit] Legislative notes
