Glen Hansard live at Vicar Street on 31 December 2006 Vicar Street is a concert and events venue in Ireland, located on Thomas Street, Dublin 2. Its capacity is estimated at 950 for seated performances, and between 1500 and 1,600 for standing gigs.[citation needed] The venue is owned by Harry Crosbie and Peter Aiken, and managed by Bren Berry.[1] Since opening in 1998,[citation needed] the venue has become a popular setting for a wide range of acts including stand-up comedy, drama performances and a variety of concerts. The first artist to play on the Vicar Street Stage was local singer songwriter Shay Cotter. Major international recording artists have performed in Vicar Street (such as Bob Dylan in 2000[citation needed] and Neil Young in 2003). Because of its intimate size, the venue is one looked on with warmth by fans and acts alike.[citation needed] Many acts have recorded some of their live material there, such as The Dubliners (Live at Vicar Street), Josh Ritter, Des Bishop, Mundy, Christy Moore, Jason Byrne and The Frames.
