Vernon Brown is a former television reporter and a member of the Sioux Falls city council. During the 1990's, Brown worked as a reporter for KELO-TV in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Later, he started his political career by being elected to the Sioux Falls city council. He also served as Marketing Manager for SDN Communications.

He married Tami Muchmore of rural South Dakota in the fall of 1996. They have one daughter, Emma. They live in Sioux Falls, where he serves as a city councilman and she as a high school english teacher.
