Valparaíso municipality, Zacatecas
Valparaíso (Spanish pronunciation: [balpaɾaˈiso]) is a town in the north central Mexican state of Zacatecas. It is located at 22°46′0″N 103°34′0″W / 22.766667°N 103.566667°W / 22.766667; -103.566667 on the interior plateau, 70 mi/113 km E of Zacatecas, at an elevation of 6200 ft/1890m. There were approximately 11,000 inhabitants in the town proper as of 2006. The municipality as a whole has approximately 29,000 inhabitants.
Valparaíso is an agricultural center for opium, corn, wheat, chickpeas, alfalfa, chiles and beef, pork, sheep, and goat.
