Utopía (Spanish pronunciation: [utoˈpia]), is the second solo studio album of Mexican singer Belinda, released on October 3, 2006, and revised with English tracks to be released in Germany and other parts of Europe on October 22, 2007.
[edit] AlbumUtopía marks Belinda's first with EMI after leaving Sony BMG for creative differences in Spring of 2006. Belinda is credited as executive producer for the record and recorded the album between May and July 2006 in Miami, Los Angeles, and New York City. [edit] SinglesThe first single "Ni Freud Ni Tu Mamá", produced and mixed by Greg Wells, was released internationally on August 28, 2006 and peaked at number 3 in Mexico. Second single "Bella Traición" was released internationally on January 31, 2007 and rise up to #7 in the Mexican airplay chart. The video for "Bella Traición" was filmed in Mexico and was released on March 5. The video for "Luz Sin Gravedad" has also been filmed and was released on March 13. "Alguien Más" will be the fourth single. The English version of "Ni Freud Ni Tu Mamá", entitled "If We Were," will be released alongside the Spanish original as the promotional single in Europe. [edit] AwardsOn August 29, 2007 Belinda received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Female Pop Album for her work in Utopía, and also the second single "Bella Traición" was nominated for Song of the Year. At the MTV Video Music Awards Latin America 2008, which were held in Mexico City, she also won two awards: Best Solo Artist and Video of the Year for her hit single Bella Traicion, which seemed like a contrast, when she was booed onstage when picking up one of the awards. On the 20th edition of Premios Lo Nuestro she won the award for Best Female Pop Artist, beating fellow Mexicans Julieta Venegas, Paulina Rubio and Yuridia. [edit] Songs
The album was re-released in English in 2007 in the U.S., Europe and Asia according to the EMI Televisa Music website.[citation needed] "If We Were" is the first single from Belinda's upcoming English album, a loose translation of "Ni Freud Ni Tu Mamá".[1] The second single in English, "At the End of the Day" ("Bella Traición"), is being played in Mexican radio stations.
