[edit] Re: Cistercians Abbey in Wąchock

I noticed that you removed {{Poland-struct-stub}} and {{Świętokrzyskie-geo-stub}} from Cistercians Abbey in Wąchock. Given your work on stub sorting, I am presuming that you are more familiar with stubs than am I. However, I am curious whether your implication here is that the article does not belong in those stub categories, or that it is long enough to be considered beyond the stub phase? Personally, I think it's still a stub, but again note that your judgment is perhaps more informed. --Geoff Capp (talk) 13:06, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Instant deletion??

Re: Harold Alfred Whistler

I was off-line a couple of hours, returned to find Whistler had been deleted, and never even had a chance to consider what to do about him. Heck, I am not even sure what disappeared. I read the deletion notice only after he was gone. If you are going to vanish 'em that quick, why bother with the message?

If given any kind of opportunity, I would have tried to work him up into a Start class article.

I think the lesson I have been taught is, don't bother creating stubs.

Georgejdorner (talk) 10:42, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the explanation.

I am taking up the matter with Wub, as he was the actual deleter. I conclude that you followed due course, and have nothing for which you should apologize. So I can't accept your apology, because you don't owe me one. Okay?

BTW, I am glad someone cleans out the deadwood. Keep up the good work.

Georgejdorner (talk) 12:27, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed deletion of Roland Schwarzl

Ambox warning yellow.svg

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Roland Schwarzl, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:

10th place finisher at one Olympics isn't notable.

All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. [edit] Remove stub designation?

Hello Waacstats: Please take a look at the entry for John Wilde. It was categorized by you as a stub back when it was a stub, and I have now added a great deal more to the article. If you think that it is time to remove the stub designation, I hope that you will do so - Glassnote (talk) 14:52, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

Hi - Glassnote here again. I broke down and read the instructions concerning removing stub designations and removed the designation myself. Another rung up the learning curve! Glassnote (talk) 15:21, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Sport stubs

I think the best use of your time would be to create upmerged stubs like {{Somalia-basketball-bio-stub}} rather than having to go back and create them later on.--TM 21:11, 22 March 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Scott Emerson, Tracy Davis, et al

Hi there. I notice that you've stub-sorted some members of the Liberal National Party of Queensland with {{Australia-National-politician-stub}}. The LNP is not the National party (it is a merged entity consisting of former members of the Nationals and Liberals in Queensland), and in the face of people like Scott Emerson and Tracy Davis quite inaccurate, as they either previously stood as Liberal candidates, or have only been a part of the new merged entity (ie: neither National or Liberal). It's an understandable enough mistake to make, but please make sure what party the person is a member of before engaging in future stubsorting on these articles. Lankiveil (speak to me) 07:58, 25 March 2009 (UTC).

[edit] Léopold Marien

[edit] Charles Davis Tillman stub deletions

Why did you delete the stubs from the article on Charles Davis Tillman? Rammer (talk) 01:30, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

I did remove the stub templates. Stub articles are generally only a few sentences long and this article is far from a few sentences. Hope that explains the reasons. Waacstats (talk) 21:49, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks. I caught on later. The article is one of the big boys now. Rammer (talk) 22:11, 14 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of content during stub sorting

Waacstats, in some of your edits where you are doing stub sorting, I noticed you are also accidentally removing content. For example, in this edit, you removed a non-stub category. In this edit, you removed a non-stub category and a reference list, causing a cite error. I have fixed these two articles, but please be careful of this in the future. Thanks and keep up the good work! --Mysdaao talk 17:41, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Back log

We have a huge back log to get through. Its hard to cope without Alaibot. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:48, 3 August 2009 (UTC)

Yeah I feel a bit guilty I can't spend more time helping out with the stub sorting but my workload is horrendous at the moment especially with the new intertranswiki I've in the middle of setting up. It is giving me a headache when I think of how many months logs we have to get through. Somebody at least needs to go through and close the proposals from months gone by, I'll do so shortly. Dr. Blofeld White cat 12:24, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

If there's something I can do to help out using AWB, let me know - AWB is great for simple replacement tasks. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 13:40, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
That I can't help with, sorry - but I can put in a good word for you if need be. :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:23, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm not sure about Opera, but it works fine with IE. It might allow you to switch back and forth, actually; my AWB runs on IE, but I use Firefox for my other regular tasks, and AWB doesn't conflict with it. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:27, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
It means "What do they say in Signa?" and "That's what they say in Signa." Ser Amantio is a minor character in Puccini's Gianni Schicchi, and the lines about Signa are something of a running joke in the opera. "They say", basically, that Buoso Donati rewrote his will to leave everything to the monks in Signa, which is the cataylst for the whole rest of the story. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:38, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
I speak French - but if it's any consolation I barely understand a word of Italian. Or much of anything else, for that matter... --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:45, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
Well, my mother is Russian, and there was a girl in my high school graduating class who was Russian. And we took French together, and one day the other students were pestering us to speak to each other in Russian. We started, but mine was rusty, and I found myself thinking in French when I was searching for a word. Not that I ever actually spoke Russian well, but still. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:54, 5 August 2009 (UTC)
My father's a polyglot - he studied French, Russian, and Spanish in school, and taught himself German and Italian. Me, I've picked up lashings of one and another language, but can only really understand French well. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 15:59, 5 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Moving templates

I think you'd have to do that manually. I'm willing to help, if you give me a list - I can do some of them around my lunch break.

Let me look at my AWB when I get home and see if there's a function which allows you to move masses of things at once...if there is, I'd quite like to know about it, actually. :-) --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 14:36, 14 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Time to put away old habits ;p...

...else I'll have to run Xenobot until the end of time! Can you start using {{asbox}} when creating new stub types? Thanks! =) –xenotalk 18:29, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

Hi Waacstats, if you have any free time could you possibly help out with some of the stub templates in Category:Stub message boxes needing attention? With your experience you can probably work out how to fix them much quicker than me. Thanks — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 15:23, 26 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Dermatology

[edit] Just helping you out on this

I had meant to e-mail you on this earlier, but you don't have to worry about anything related to Canoeing at the Summer Olympics. I already have the Olympic events, Olympic medalists, and canoe slalom and sprint world championship medalists done. I am in the process of doing the competitors for each of the canoeing events, having finished 1936 and 1948 Summer Olympics, and being halfway through the 1952 events. [edit] Stub sorting

Hey there. I got interested in taxonomy stub sorting lately and I was working in stub creation here. Just wondering, I assume you remove the ones that are done without archiving? And if you object to a split, is there a discussion page for it or can you be bold and remove it? This is my first time working on the WikiProject and would like to do more. [edit] RioGrandedoNorte-geo-stub

Hello! I noticed you are the creator of {{RioGrandedoNorte-geo-stub}} and other Brazilian geography stubs templates...however, this one has no specific category like "Category:Rio Grande do Norte geography stubs". Is there a special reason for that or we can create it just like the others? Thank you, Victão Lopes I hear you... 22:35, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

I understand, thank you. I've just added the template to some articles, and according to its "What links here" page, the criation of the category is to happen soon. Victão Lopes I hear you... 23:17, 12 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] New stub templates

Hi WS - you might want to go back and check a few of the new stub templates you've made and move them... some of them seem to have crept through with the suffix "-stubs" rather than "-stub". More coffee needed? :) Grutness...wha? 01:00, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

  • Mmmm - didn['t notice that you'd redirected them (I was just going by the newpages log). Do you want the incorrect names deleted, or are you happy just to leave them as unused redirects? Grutness...wha? 22:56, 14 November 2009 (UTC)
    • Done. Thanks for the congrats (we're starting to call it football here, finally) - though NZ's got as much chance of winning the FIFA World Cup as Brazil has of winning the rugby equivalent! Grutness...wha? 22:17, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Stub type proposals

Please note that the stub type proposals page is highly backlogged, going all the way back to June. This situation means that:

  1. Users are less likely to propose stub types before creating them - loading the proposal page requires heavy download (just adding up the pages from June to October comes out to 325K). Additionally, users who see this backlog are likely to consider the proposals just an unnecessary peace of bureaucracy, and ignore it.
  2. Users who do object to some proposal are less likely to comment - the download issues are the same as above, and users will get the impression that the proposed types will never actually be created.

It would be nice if you could close the older proposals (I don't feel confident that I can handle this). עוד מישהו Od Mishehu 14:49, 6 December 2009 (UTC)
