[edit] Commons trouble

Yo, I wonder if I could ask a favour. I uploaded Image:Katie Sierra in the Land of the Free.gif to Commons but screwed up the copyright tags and for some inexplicable reason I am unable to edit Commons image pages. Could you possibly copy-paste the copyright info on Image:GlobalIntifada.gif and paste it to the Sierra image? I don't want the copyright mafia to get all trigger happy and delete anything unnecessarily...скоморохъ 23:22, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Perfect, muchas gracias. скоморохъ 07:27, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
It's bizarre - when I click "edit this page" over there, the browser won't open the ".php" file and tries to open it with some word processor instead. So I can upload by clicking radio buttons, and strangely enough, comment on talk pages, but I can't edit images. There's probably some blindly obvious technical reason for it, but I am a neophyte at this programming business. скоморохъ 07:32, 23 March 2008 (UTC)
Nah, I am lethargic, anti-social and suspicious of authority to the extent that I am massively paranoid at drawing attention to my uploaded images on commons lest they be defeated in one fell swoop on some minor point of Floridian law/etiquette. I mean... скоморохъ 07:46, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

Well, sure. The whole point of that section is that it recognizes some of the more controversial individuals referred to as anarchist. Some of them will be more controversial than others. Add him. He denies it anyway.--Cast (talk) 03:17, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

You probably noticed I got some of the photos for Clallam county, feel free to rearraige them as you feel, also the articles too. I might go out on a sunny day and try to get more/better ones if weather cooperates and or I have time. I will just have to avoid the gaurd at the old post office that thinks it is illeagal to take pictures of a federal building (will explain the odd angle I ended up with, first and only picture I got) anyways cheers Bigfathairymarmot (talk) 05:44, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Fort Cascades

I don't know if it came across as intended, but I meaning to be a bit hifalutin' / thot I was being funny with my reply at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject National Register of Historic Places#Fort Cascades. I appreciated your setting a bit of a challenge, and I went looking for archaeological sites that were NRHPs that might fit the bill. Then in my response i thot it was funny to imply i was working on who knows how many WA NRHP articles. In fact i was involved in discussion/development of Good Article advancement of the Hanford site, which happens to involve a couple NRHP archaeological sites. I don't think the humour got acrossssss necessarily, oh well. :( doncram (talk) 01:41, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion of Image:Yavapai.jpg

Nuvola apps important.svg

A tag has been placed on Image:Yavapai.jpg, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done for the following reason:

{{{2}}}

Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not meet basic Wikipedia criteria may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as an appropriate article, and if you can indicate why the subject of this article is appropriate, you may contest the tagging. To do this, add {{hangon}} on the top of the page and leave a note on [[Talk:Image:Yavapai.jpg|the article's talk page]] explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm its subject's notability under the guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Ante Perkovic (talk) 11:35, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Yavapai.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Yavapai.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Stifle (talk) 19:21, 8 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] To all members of the Anarchist Task Force - about improvement of the AI-Wiki-page

I have just joined the Anarchist Task Force, and I have had some problems with publishing of my Anarchist International Wikipedia page, see my sandbox http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Anna_Quist/Anarchist_International for the present version/proposal. This page needs improvements to reach Wiki-consensus, and this should be a somewhat collective project to avoid a "COI"-template. As I am new to editing here on Wikipedia I need help with the page, I hope for your cooperation with this improvement. As an introduction to this cooperation, feel free to read this note on my talk page:

Any contribution, matter of fact criticism, to give input and advice, or even contribute to new sections, will be helpful, and is much appreciated. Please join in the project...

[edit] List of Registered Historic Places in Washington

Hi ... I see you attempted to fix the reflist template at the bottom of the Washington NRHP list. The reason it's not working is because there's a limit on the number of templates that can be included and resolved in an article. This also explains why the Whatcom County table looks like it does. When an article exceeds the limit, it is automatically added to . When individual counties are split out into separate articles and the main article is down to a reasonable size, the problem will go away. Thanks for all your valuable contributions and keep up the good work! --Sanfranman59 (talk) 00:01, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

What I've done with the Alabama and Michigan lists (two other states with lots of counties) is to break out all of the counties with the most listings (am I allowed to use that term? ;^) into separate articles until the main state article has only the counties with a few listings and is down to about 80k in size. It's probably safe to assume that counties with more than 10 or 15 listings will need to be broken out. It's also been necessary to break out large cities from their county lists (e.g., Detroit from Wayne County). --Sanfranman59 (talk) 00:51, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
I encountered the templates-not-resolving issue on the List of RHPs in WI list-article that grew to exceed 200k. I am pretty sure that is the limit. Resolved as Sanfranman59 suggests. doncram (talk) 05:03, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Spanish Civil War

Hi, regarding the edits over Stanley Payne's opinion in the Spanish Civil War page, I'm afraid I don't agree with your edit. Firstly although this may be cited material, there is no factual information in this quote. It's entirely opinion and interpretation.

The leftist zone has been variously designated "Republican", "loyalist", and "Popular Front." Of those terms, the adjective "loyalist" is somewhat misleading, for there was no attempt to remain loyal to the constitutional Republican regime. If that had been the scrupulous policy of the left, there would have been no revolt and civil war in the first place. Thus after July 1936 what remained of the constitutional Republic gave way to the "revolutionary Republican confederation" of 1936–1937.

Which is fine in a work by an individual historian who is developing his argument, but citing one, highly partisan view in wp article is not productive. What the author is saying is that, in his opinion the Spanish republicans do not deserve the name republicans. And basically that the civil war was the fault of the left. Arguable, yes but highly pov I think. And it's not as if this is new and cutting edge research, the works cited were published in 1973 so I see no reason why they should be given special prominence in the text.

Nor do I agree with building up citations and counter-citations on the point. This would add nothing factual to the article and only confuse the reader. The debate as to respect to legality in the republican zone is a legitimate one but surely it's better dealt with elsewhere, for example in a historiography section.

Hope to hear from you. Jdorney (talk) 14:53, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

[edit] File source problem with File:CNT-armoured-car-factory.gif

File Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading File:CNT-armoured-car-factory.gif. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 07:30, 2 September 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Salavat (talk) 07:30, 2 September 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Freecoasters deletion

[edit] Proposed deletion of Freecoasters

Ambox warning yellow.svg

The article Freecoasters has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The article started out as a copyvio, and after the violating parts were removed, it is not much more than a dictionary definition. It does not show notability, and the only external link is to an amateur website. It is extremely unlikely that this article will ever grow to more than a stub.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the Proposed Deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The Speedy Deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and Articles for Deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
