[edit] From Andrew Dalby

Graham, thanks very much for your edits to the list of users mentioned in my book. All very helpful. About Julila (as I have just reminded myself by checking the book's index) this was a user whose work has been deleted almost everywhere because he was spamming his biography across many languages. I have inserted a link to the Latin Wikipedia, where he currently remains.

I am talking to the publishers. We don't immediately see a prospect of a talking or braille version, but we're still thinking ...

All good wishes Andrew Dalby 13:11, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] UTC

Would it make sense to turn the present Talk:UTC into a redirect to Talk:Coordinated Universal Time, and move the present contents of Talk:UTC to Talk:UTC (disambiguation)? I think the present contents of Talk:UTC is more pertinent to the disambiguation page. --Jc3s5h (talk) 17:07, 5 November 2009 (UTC)

Makes sense to me. All done. Graham87 04:01, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
Thanks. Jc3s5h (talk) 15:49, 6 November 2009 (UTC)

On my user talk page i've got a warning from you about 'vandalism' of "List of French People", what vandalism are we talking about here? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 94.194.238.22 (talk) 07:46, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

Thanks for fixing the link on my user page. Good catch. Dawnseeker2000 02:38, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

Yeah, I wonder also if some Wikipedians are drunk. Anyhow, I was glad to visit ur user page when i noticed that you might be able to provide the text from deleted articles. So there's an American electronic music producer that isn't that popular, but has created a few compilations of that kind of music. I created the (thin) articles for two of those albums a while back. I have thought about putting together something on the fella himself, but there isn't that much information about him. A few people have tried to start something about the guy. The two articles are DJ Doran and Doran Chambers.
Oh, and the articles that summarize the two CD's are Electric Daisy Carnival (album) and Fragrant Sense. Thanks. Dawnseeker2000 02:54, 13 November 2009 (UTC)
OK thanks very much. Yes, I'm aware of the nature of creating articles and the requirements for retention. Dawnseeker2000 03:52, 13 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Hello

I saw your discussion on the child labor section on wikipedia and how it is semi protected. Would you care to explain this to me? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Akatsuki21 (talkcontribs) 14:58, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

Semi-protected means that unregistered users and new users that have not been autoconfirmed cannot edit the page. Last time I checked, to be autoconfirmed, you had to have had an account for a week and have ten edits to your name (I think those were the numbers anyway. The first time I heard about autoconfirmation, I had a hundred edits to my name). --ThejadefalconSing your songThe bird's seeds 15:00, 19 November 2009 (UTC)
The above explanation is correct, except autoconfirmation requires that the account be at least four days old, not seven. I semi-protected the child labor article because of excessive vandalism. Graham87 15:17, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Talk:Wiki farm/Old history

Hi,

This is going to sound like an odd request, but is there any way you could history-merge this back into wiki farm? Following yet another re-working of the revision history between that and comparison of wiki farms, it looks like this "old" history would be a good fit. (and here's me having questioned your keeping it around!) Thoughts? Chris Cunningham (not at work) - talk 17:47, 19 November 2009 (UTC)

All done. It belongs in the main namespace and it won't do any harm there now, so I've moved it back. Graham87 04:30, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] New York Television Festival

I just put deletion tag for New York Television Festival article because the author of the article himself has stated that this is a recreation of a previously deleted article(See history).Iam not sure of this because i do not get any hint of its previous version.Pls help.....arunkumarcheckmate me 11:12, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for clearing the doubt. :) ...It was just that I too had the same assumption. The subject of he article is notable. But still, when I saw that the article was deleted once, I thought that its previous version may had some defect that this version carries too.So I just put it for deletion.Again, thanks for the help..

arunkumarcheckmate me 12:32, 22 November 2009 (UTC)

Regarding the Speedy deletion nomination of New York Television Festival: Thanks for taking the time to check the article and verify that it wasn't just someone slapping the old text back on! I took some pains to ensure it was original writing, but not original research. There's more to write about there, but I like to think this is a solid foundation for future editors. I'll take more care with my edit summaries. --Glantrischmozzle (talk) 02:40, 24 November 2009 (UTC)
Wow, that was rather spammy. It wasn't my article, though, as I mentioned to Arunkumar. --Glantrischmozzle (talk) 04:00, 24 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Davis Deluxe

This article looks bare bones and I can't find any good sources. I'm almost inclined to PROD, or at least AFD this but I'm wondering if that's too rash. What do you think? -WarthogDemon 03:35, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Kalgoorlie-Boulder vs Dundas

It's more than a little confusing, but the City of Kalgoorlie-Boulder, a result of a 1989 amalgamation, actually extends all the way to the South Australian border and covers the whole WA part of the Trans-Australian railway line, on which Forrest, Loongana, Rawlinna etc are located. The Eyre Highway towns further south are in Dundas. See Toiletmap (a surprisingly useful site for finding localities in LGAs, used it a fair bit for my Queensland ones) KB and Dundas. Surprisingly, if ABS are to be believed, just 41 people live in that entire stretch. Orderinchaos 07:31, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

No worries - that's why I thought I'd let you know. And yep - apparently in the beginning, those shires were eastward extensions of Beverley, York, Northam, Toodyay etc and then got progressively carved up. I guess it didn't make much sense having a shire for 41 people, although I don't see why Dundas or even Coolgardie could not have absorbed it as you'd think the good citizens of Rawlinna and Loongana wouldn't get very good representation in a City aimed almost exclusively at urban residents. Orderinchaos 10:57, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

Red Rocks - yes! good news - the more stuff about the nullarbor the better! thanks for mentioning that at Orderinchaoses talk! SatuSuro 10:32, 9 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Pokemon Pearl- Action Reaplay Codes (North America)

Hello. I was told to contact you. Here is the talk I had with other people about this..: Hello. I am here to talk to you about the article I made. It says it will be a speedy deletion soon. It is not promoting any sites. I am only saying where the codes where from. I also made some of them. And I was going to add the picture of the game box with all its info later. I had spent 2hrs making the article so I needed a little rest. Then I wanted to see how it was doing and I see the notice.

Can you please not delete it?

IiDevil (talk) 19:12, 13 December 2009 (UTC) (iiDevil or IiDevil)

I hope HJ doesn't mind me posting a passing comment on his page.
I just noticed your message Li Devil and notice that the page has already been deleted. If you contact one of these admins they may be able to userfy the page for you. However this will depend on the actual page itself. Hope this helps :) --5 albert square (talk) 19:25, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

Sorry it took me so long to respond, and no 5asq, I don't mind you answering on my behalf, especially since I was offline briefly. IiDevil, if you follow the link 5 albert square provides, you can ask one of those administrators to email you a copy of the page. The reason it was deleted is that Wikipedia is an encyclopaedia of notable, verifiable topics not a place for people to post game codes (whether they're yours, someone else's or whatever). I don't mean to sound condescending by this, but try publishing them on a blog or somewhere, but not Wikipedia. Don't be put off editing though- no self respecting editor hasn't had a page deleted- it's happened to me twice! HJMitchell You rang? 22:40, 13 December 2009 (UTC)

OK I will contact one of those Admins thanks :3 IiDevil (talk) 22:50, 14 December 2009 (UTC) ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As you can see they told me to contact a admin so I randomly clicked a admins name and it was you XD So, some of these codes were made by me, all tested and work fine does not ruin the game. Also, I had permission from the people the rest of the codes where from. Can you please try to get my article back? It took me 2hrs to make this :c And it said I was advertising as well when I was not. I was just told to by the website where I got the codes to post the website in the article. Thanks for you help. IiDevil (talk) 22:58, 14 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks Again XD

Ok I set my email for you. Thanks for helping me out

[edit] Homer Simpson

I don't get it. What happened? Enigmamsg 03:53, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

I imported an old edit from the Nostalgia Wikipedia. The edit was at the title "The Simpsons/Homer" on the Nostalgia Wikipedia, so I had to move the English article to the title with the slash in it, catch the edit from the Nostalgia Wikipedia, then move the page back again. I dunno if it was a good idea to do that while the article was featured on the Main Page, but it was a fairly quick operation so the disruption was minimal. Graham87 04:01, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
But why did the old edit need to be imported, and what caused it to happen now? Enigmamsg 04:06, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
It needed to be imported because it wasn't in the page history at en.wp, but it *was* in the page history of the Nostalgia Wikipedia. Importing has just been recently enabled for admins here (also see requests for page importation), so I'm going crazy trying to import as many edits as I can. I decided to import the Homer Simpson article today because it is today's featured article. Graham87 04:17, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

A related question: Is there any reason why the page title The Simpsons/Homer needs to stick around now that the history has been merged? I realize that that was the original page title, but it doesn't jibe with our current standards that explicitly don't use subpages. Moreover, Talk:The Simpsons/Homer has already attracted a useless edit. If there's a reason it has to stick around, that's fine, but if not please clean such subpage-style redirects up after you merge the edits. Thanks Gavia immer (talk) 04:38, 17 December 2009 (UTC)

I've deleted it. I generally like to leave redirects in the same state they were in before I history merged them. I know that Every Edit Is Sacred isn't official Wikipedia policy, but I try to abide by that principle. Graham87 04:56, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the prompt reply. So long as I'm here, let me thank you for doing this kind of work. Most people won't notice it, but to me the improvements to attribution are reason enough even without considering the text that goes with it. Gavia immer (talk) 05:44, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the kind words. I love this kind of work, especially when I can import a large number of relevant edits. The activation of Special:Import felt like an early Christmas present for me. Graham87 05:57, 17 December 2009 (UTC)
