[edit] Use of nonfree adverts?
I removed the use of this photo in Frankie and Missy Rayder's articles with an "unneeded nonfree advert" explanation, as they're a little too blatantly non-free and rather unnecessary for whatever rationale is or could be provided, IMO. I see you've made similar edits and I just wanted to see what you thought of the use of this photo in case my edits are undone. (I haven't nom'd it for deletion or anything.) Mbinebri talk ← 18:24, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
- Should it be nominated for deletion then? I'm not sure what it would fall under in terms of grounds for deletion. Mbinebri talk ← 18:38, 22 June 2009 (UTC)

- Lo and behold, the pics were re-added w/ the rationale image is not an ad. It is FU of an image that depicts the subject, which is a rather weak argument as a free image can depict the subject just as well. What should the deletion nom be? "Weak fair use claim for copyrighted ad/catalog scan"? I don't know how appropriate that is. "Fails WP:NFCC#1 or/and WP:NFCC#8"? Mbinebri talk ← 02:33, 24 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] I need your advice...
...O maven of all things image-related. I've been adding portraits to as many articles on members of the Continental Congress as I can, and I came upon this image, which is used to illustrate the article on one Thomas Contee of Maryland, and which is claimed as his portrait. Thing is, it appears to actually be a portrait of his son, Benjamin Contee, whose portrait I uploaded the other day. The two are beyond merely similar; note the facial expression, the wig, the features, the costume...I think the first has been mislabeled. (Why the first? I have a reliable source at home - a book published by the Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery - which reproduces the miniature upon which the print of Benjamin was based, and which states that it is a likeness of him, and not his father.) What's the best way to handle something like this? How would I go about getting the first image properly labled? --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 20:02, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
- Okey-dokey, that's what I'll do, then. Thanks!
- BTW, forgot to mention...congrats on the nifty bit of paper with Latin writing all over it. I've got one of those myself...and from a university that's just a wee bit younger. ;-) (Mine was chartered first, though. Nyaah.) --User:AlbertHerring Io son l'orecchio e tu la bocca: parla! 20:23, 22 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Request
Can you improve Chitré? Can you translate the history from spanish wiki and notable people etc and add any book references you have? P.S do you think File:Qatar Pearl Lagoon.jpg it would stand a featured chance? It is a little dark, maybe it quite be lightened? Dr. Blofeld White cat 10:30, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
OK thanks. I think it was the amazing emerald green sea that stunnded me. Anything rich green or blue like that gets me all dreamy! Dr. Blofeld White cat 14:41, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
Dunno of late my computer doesn't load details when you zoom in on maps whether on here or google maps so I can't see if it is a dud or not. I'll take your word for it, feel free to delete the article and remove the link from the template. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:59, 23 June 2009 (UTC)
At least we now have this. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:56, 24 June 2009 (UTC)
Could you upload these for me. It is a small town and seat of the Tilaran canton of Costa Rica. I'm covering Lake Arenal at the mo. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:11, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response! They look nice at Tilarán. Dr. Blofeld White cat 18:26, 26 June 2009 (UTC)
[edit] A response
Yes, Zawiat al 'Urqub (or el 'Argoub in Libyan Arabic) is a town some 30 km (20 m) west of Al Bayda. All I know about this town that:
- There is an animal medical center there, and I don't know if it still exists.
- There is a dairy there. I don't know also if it still exists.
- The government tried in vain to rename it Al Fajr Al Jadeed (i.e., The New Dawn).

Hi Calliopejen1, thanks for your note on my talk page, unfortunately I am ensconced in the hinterlands of Canada. I stumbled upon the Frank Hawks article and noted that it required some work. I was unaware of the many problems in images that were submitted but I am now getting the picture (pun intended). There are probably some PD images about but would a movie poster, comic book cover work? Frank Hawks became a "media darling" with contracts with Post Cereal, a radio show, acting in a feature film and a starring role in a long-running movie serial.
