Hi. Electrical Experiment wants these pages deleted. Can you confirm that you're not using them anymore? - Richard Cavell (talk) 02:02, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] ANI notice
You're being discussed at AN/I here; seriously, what the hell is going on here? – iridescent 19:29, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
- It is now here, from what ive read its all based on a email !? ElectricalExperiment 20:13, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
Hello Bluegoblin7, we don't generally delete talk pages, even if a user is leaving - they hold valuable discussion points, some unrelated to yourself. Ryan Postlethwaite 21:36, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Unblock me, please...
 | Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s): I am going to provisionally unblock you, because there is insufficient evidence of sock puppetry at this time. However, there are at least suggestions of possible sock puppetry, which I will deal with through request for checkuser. If it is determined that you've taken advantage of my assumption of good faith, this unblock will be reverted. Request handled by: Jehochman Talk 15:49, 14 July 2008 (UTC) |

- I'll leave a note for the blocking admin. –xenocidic (talk) 14:56, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- As I have prior history with BG7, I'll recuse myself from declining this request, however the next reviewing admin should take a look at the following threads: User talk:East718#Bad Block & User talk:East718#User talk:Bluegoblin7. –xenocidic (talk) 15:06, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- That is not true, I swear. I was not even here at the times supposedly I made the request. I have ~60 witnessess. Compare our contributions and writing style. Compare the times the accounts were created. Ask the above users. Please!!! BG7even 15:12, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- I can only go on what east says. Since unilaterally unblocking you would constitute wheel-warring, if east stands by the block then only a discussion at WP:AN can reverse it. –xenocidic (talk) 15:15, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- There already is an ANI discussion, that concluded that I was innocent!!! Please! I'm in tears here. Honestly! Check everything. Surely Alison thinking i'm innocent is enough? CU me!!! BG7even 15:23, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- I tried to wade through that mess of a thread, but didn't see any clear conclusion. –xenocidic (talk) 15:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- You need to read the talk pages of the relevant editors of the thread as well. Iridescent's has a pretty good conclusion. BG7even 15:29, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
The transparency for why the block happened and the reasoning behind it is hard to find. The ANI thread certainly didn't result in anyone suggesting a block. When was the block reason actually put on this page? Is the main basis of the block the evidence that BG7, the one we are talking to right now, admitted to running on IRC to running a sock farm? And the reason we are not unblocking now is because we are claiming BG7 to now be lying here about that statement? Gwynand | Talk•Contribs 15:33, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you for trusting me Gwynand. If needed, talk to various people. It all points to me being innocent. I can prove with ~60 people that I had no access to a PC at the time of the alledged confession. Please, anyone... BG7even 15:36, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I'm not saying I'm trusting anyone, nor calling anyone a liar. I'm trying to make a point that if we are making blocks from comments made on IRC and surrounding evidence, thatn a lot of transparency is needed in regards to evidence and why this justifies an on-wiki block. I'm not saying the evidence is or isn't in existence, but I think its fair to say that most of the community will have a hard time understanding what is going on here. Even Xeno, a responding admin, somewhat admits to that, and I am here saying it as well. Need more explanation. Gwynand | Talk•Contribs 15:38, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- Ok, well, thanks anyway. If you need more proof from my side, I can provide it. BG7even 15:41, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- I would like to add what i said at ANI, i can act as a Guarantor that he IS NOT a sock puppet of chris. As a server admin of 3 wiki;s of which both those user have been using i am well aware that they are different people. This block is a joke and needs to be strongly reconsidered. «l| Ψrom3th3ăn ™|l» (talk) 15:46, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- I may have retired, but who says I may not come back? Also, I would like to depart on an up. Oh, and if i'm blocked, I cannot make IP contributions. BG7even 15:50, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- Sorry, but this is an awful block. Since when do we block on the grounds of off-wiki activity? – iridescent 16:30, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- It's good off-wiki evidence showing these two are the same people on-wiki. It's not a block for off-wiki activity. Even so, he's unblocked now anyway. Ryan Postlethwaite 16:32, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- God only knows *what* is going on. All I know is that whatever it is is completely irrelevant to en.wikipedia, happened somewhere else and should stay there. I commend the lifting of this block. Orderinchaos 19:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thank you. This whole thing has been one giant beatup over actions on a non-Wikimedia wiki, and this person seems to have been the meat in the sandwich. Orderinchaos 22:19, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
- I apologize deeply for having blocked you. This is a lesson for me to block based on something more solid than off-wiki replacements for CheckUser, and I hope a lesson for you that you should keep your offsite accounts secure. It's pretty obvious that your Freenode account's been compromised, so I suggest you change its email/password or contact network staff if you need help recovering it. In an attempt to make reparations, I've put an entry in your block log explaining my mistake. east.718 at 01:43, July 15, 2008

[edit] You were set up, it's obvious
I don't know you from Adam, but I am familiar with Chris(numbers). He is trying to clear his name by framing you. I suspected this from before you were blocked, and I am completely unsurprised that you've been proven innocent. I thought you had just quit; had I known you had been blocked for this, I would have talked to the admins who upheld it. He will eventually get caught; he's made quite enough rope to hang himself I think. Aunt Entropy (talk) 03:26, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Help...
{{helpme}}
Hi,
Can someone help me to get {{UserStatus}} to display on my sub pages that call my toolbar? Or, even better, can anyone put it into a box like User:Hersfold/StatusTemplate.
Cheers,
BG7even 08:57, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Hello! If you want to use User:Hersfold's template, he has the necessary steps listed on the page. Were you having trouble doing that, or did you want to make your own copy of it so that you can customise it a bit? --tiny plastic Grey Knight ⊖ 09:13, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I wanted to customise it a bit as it's also not compatible with QUI at the moment - I used to use that you see. I want all the options of the former, but in a box like the latter, but not necessarily with the links to update it. BG7even 09:21, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Give me a minute, I'll make one at User:Bluegoblin7/StatusTemplate. --tiny plastic Grey Knight ⊖ 09:53, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, BG7even 09:55, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

-
-
- Done, here it is in action. You can write it as
{{User:Bluegoblin7/StatusTemplate|align=left}} if you want it on the other side. If you look at the source code it should be possible to see how to add new statuses, ask me if you have any trouble. I took out the update links since they use JavaScript, but I can help you put them in if you really want them (it might get a bit cluttered if you have one for each status though). --tiny plastic Grey Knight ⊖ 10:04, 17 July 2008 (UTC) - (ec) Actually, I went ahead and added a simple update link (which just takes you to edit User:Bluegoblin7/Status by hand). You can revert that change if you don't want it, obviously. --tiny plastic Grey Knight ⊖ 10:10, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks! I'll let you know if I need help. I didn't want the links in as the ones I use the most use QUI which are included in the UserStatus temp. The others I can add manually ;). Cheers, BG7even 10:09, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
I tried looking at this QUI beastie, trying to figure out how it deals with the "custom" statuses. Can you try changing your status to one of the special ones so I can see what it looks like? It doesn't report my own status properly because of the QUI caching. --tiny plastic Grey Knight ⊖ 10:25, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- I see you're "sleeping". Hm, looks like QUI still has you as "busy"; probably it is using the last status it understood or else defaults to "busy". Oh well, better than nothing, at least it doesn't explode! ;-) --tiny plastic Grey Knight ⊖ 10:37, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Really? Sleeping is a QUI status. Let me have a look at a non-QUI one... BG7even 10:39, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- I still have you as "busy". (Also the timer seems to be off by an hour; probably a timezone thing as I'm off-by-one from UTC.) Try "online"? --tiny plastic Grey Knight ⊖ 10:48, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- Crazy, I still have "busy"! I even tried removing you from the list and re-adding, no idea what's going on. I'll report it on WT:QUI and see if anyone else can figure it out. --tiny plastic Grey Knight ⊖ 10:52, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- I'm getting an issue as well - i changed my friends around and some either didnt add or havent removed. :S. BG7even 11:00, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- I know that your friendslist is cached, so if you edited it manually then QUI might not have noticed; by the same token, it apparently can take a little while to update even when changed properly (through the interface). --tiny plastic Grey Knight ⊖ 11:13, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
- If you want something with custom statuses, copy the code from User:Xenocidic/statusChanger2.js into your monobook.js (or its own .js page, and import that into your monobook) and add your custom statuses in the appropriate line. –xeno (talk) 12:50, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
replace
statusChangerConfig.statusList = [ 'online', 'busy', 'around', 'offline' ];
with
statusChangerConfig.statusList = [ 'whatever', 'custom', 'statuses', 'you', 'want' ];
hope that helps. –xeno (talk) 12:50, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Next update
Out of the nine hooks in the next update, six of them are USA-related. The usual practice is that we try to maintain a variety of hooks in each update, in terms of nationality and topic. It is not a good idea to have American hooks more than half the hooks (which will likely cause protests), and there are too many biographical hooks as well. --BorgQueen (talk) 15:10, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Speedy deletion
I notice that you tagged the page Portal:Derbyshire/Selected Picture/6 for speedy deletion with the reason "it needs to be deleted to merge histories, reverse a redirect, or perform other non-controversial technical tasks". While that's a valid reason for speedy deletion in general, this page does not qualify for speedy deletion under that criterion because it is unclear how the deletion of this page will merge histories, reverse a redirect, or exactly why it is being done. If you still want the page to be deleted, please consider tagging it with a speedy deletion template which does apply, redirecting it to another page, or using the WP:MFD process. Thanks! Stifle (talk) 15:39, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Alternatively, you can get the original author to tag it as {{db-g7}} or use {{db-g6|wording=Description of why the deletion is non-controversial}}. Stifle (talk) 15:40, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Hello,
- I tagged them under G6 housekeeping with Twinkle.
- Thanks,
- BG7even 16:17, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- I know you did, but the pages don't qualify for speedy deletion under G6. Stifle (talk) 19:09, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- Why not? I have tagged things in WikiProjects in the past under this and they went. Please explain why they cannot be deleted? There are no incoming links or transclusions and are unused.
- BG7even 19:17, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
- You should use {{db-g6|wording=Reason for deletion}}, like I suggested, to fully explain the deletion and how it is uncontroversial. Stifle (talk) 19:35, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] DYK next update
Hello, long time no see. I see your getting involved in DYK, a place where I'm active around and regularly at. When setting up the next update, make sure that the hooks are mostly (it would be better of it was all the hooks) different. Nationality, the topic, biographies, etc. all count. It isn't good if many hooks are about the same topic. And if there are 2 or 3 hooks that are somewhat about the same topic, separate them into different locations. Just a few tips. Thanks, RyRy (talk) 17:11, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, sure thing. I've been watching the page for months now anyway, so I'll know when you have removed the {{inuse}} tag. -- RyRy (talk) 17:16, 4 October 2008 (UTC)
- Looks good. The administrator that will update T:DYK next will probably make one last review before updating, so we'll see. -- RyRy (talk) 18:23, 4 October 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Hello Bluegoblin7
Hi. I can tell you've been around for awhile. I'm new. Is the Editing User Talk section the right place to see if an article (not mine) can be rated "Feature Listed" or "Feature Article"?Ti-30X (talk) 03:06, 15 April 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Help for template
Hello, I've seen your name on the project template and I permis myself to ask you help: I've just created a new portal Portal:Lyon and I would like to create the templates for the subways, trams, bus. They already exist on the french wikipedia of Lyon metro for example. would you accept to help me ? Thank you Lulu97417 (talk) 16:39, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Sure, is there anything in particular you want help with? If you tell me what you want, I could probably do it. Regards, BG7even 17:58, 21 May 2009 (UTC)
- Hello, thank you :) So first think I would like to do is create the template of subways and trams of Lyon. to see it you can visit Transports en commun lyonnais and then click and the french page. I'm a beginner and don't know how to recreate template from another wikipedia. I would also recreate the Portal:Lyon exactly (or almost) the same than the french one. It's a lot ahah :) If it seems boring dont break your brain. Lulu97417 (talk) 18:13, 21 May 2009 (UTC)

[edit] DLR pics
Hi BG!
Thanks for choosing my pics! Yes please credit me, but I would prefer if it were under my real name Sunil Prasannan, so maybe you could do something like the equivalent of this in Wiki: Sunil Prasannan. By the way I have visited every railway station and tramstop within the M25 as well as the five Tube stations outside, and I have the pics to prove it! Doing anything on Tramlink? I have a nice pic on Wikipedia:Picture_peer_review. best, Sunil060902 (talk) 13:44, 30 June 2009 (UTC)

[edit] 2010 WikiCup Signups Reconfirmation!
To ensure that everyone who signed up is still committed to participating in the 2010 WikiCup, it is required that you remove your name from this list! By removing your name, you are not removing yourself from the WikiCup. This is simply a way for the judges to take note of who has not yet reconfirmed their participation. If you have not removed your name from that list by December 30th, 2009 (by 23:59 (UTC)) then your name will be removed from the WikiCup.
It's worth noting the rules have changed, likely after you signed up. The changes made thus far are:
- Mainspace and/or portal edits will not be awarded points at all.
- Did you know? articles (which were worth 5 points last year) will now be worth 10 points.
- Good articles (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
- Valued pictures will be now awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
- Featured lists (which were worth 30 points last year) will now be worth 40 points.
- Featured portals (which were worth 25 points last year) will now be worth 35 points.
- Featured articles (which were worth 50 points last year) will now be worth 100 points.
- Featured topics (which were worth 10 points per article last year) will now be worth 15 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
- Good topics (which were worth 5 points per article last year) will now be worth 10 points per any article in the topic that you were a major contributor to.
- In the news will still be awarded points, however the amount (5 or 10 points) is still being discussed.
If you have any final concerns about the WikiCup's rules and regulations, please ask them now, before the Cup begins to avoid last minute problems. You may come to the WikiCup's talk page, or any of the judge's user talk pages. We're looking forwards to a great 2010 WikiCup! On behalf of the WikiCup judges, iMatthew talk at 03:40, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
