[edit] Your name

I thought your account was after a renaissance artist or someone like that. However, upon hearing it in University Challenge I tried to research this person, but with no luck. Could you assist at all? - Jarry1250 [Humorous? Discuss.] 20:02, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

You heard my account name on University Challenge? +Angr 20:05, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
I thought I had. Presumably you made it up, or otherwise based it on some detail of your personal life, but I heard what I thought was "Angr" (in a French style) on UC, and I put two and two together to make five. Nevermind. - Jarry1250 [Humorous? Discuss.] 20:11, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
It's based on my real name, that's all. Not even anything to do with being angry. +Angr 20:24, 4 November 2009 (UTC)
It's me. Got it: I think your username sounds like the surname of Jean Auguste Dominique Ingres. 92.9.150.105 (talk) 21:16, 1 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit] With all due respect...

"... you don't know ****". Yeah, I noticed that upon reading it for the first time, and found it amusing, because we have the exact same phrase in Norwegian, except that there's a definite article in there. Andresen was obviously thinking in Norwegian when he wrote it :) decltype (talk) 21:24, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

But in English, he used the indefinite article. +Angr 21:27, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Oops, I meant indefinite, of course. decltype (talk) 21:37, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Pissing contest

Hi, you might not have noticed, but you closed this AfD before it had run for seven days. Per WP:DP#Deletion discussion, "the discussion lasts at least seven full days". Could you please reopen it with a note about the extra time it needs to run due to the intermittent closure? Thanks,  Sandstein  23:02, 10 November 2009 (UTC)

Even if that hadn't been the case, there was clearly no consensus to keep; and the article is completely at odds with the relevant policy. I will not put up with this kind of administrative abuse under any circumstances.- Wolfkeeper 23:13, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
I've created a thread on WP:ANI; you have completely overstepped your authority, and I'm therefore requesting that you be desysopped; you clearly cannot be trusted.- Wolfkeeper 23:26, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
Yo. I re-opened this AfD for the remainder of the time period, as it couldn't be closed via speedy keep or CSD criteria. You are hereby reminded that AfDs that are not obvious closes should be left to run the full seven days. 'Nuff said. Tan | 39 23:48, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
You're also very much reminded that this is not a vote.- Wolfkeeper 23:50, 10 November 2009 (UTC)
I closed it all of ten hours early, i.e. it had run for 94% of its time. And AFDs have to achieve a consensus to delete, not a consensus to keep. I don't mind changing the name of the result from "Keep" to "No consensus to delete", but the end effect is the same. +Angr 07:06, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
A no consensus would have been preferable, and not entirely unreasonable. But seven days is the minimum, it certainly hadn't snowballed. And you don't seem to have followed the Wikipedia:Deletion_guidelines_for_administrators.- Wolfkeeper 07:43, 11 November 2009 (UTC)
I was kinda hoping for a slightly wiser decision to be honest, it didn't have to be a delete necessarily, but indicating that you were tending towards a particular position you could take might be preferable, while leaving the review open for further discussion for example; the article that is being reviewed is a real mess from a policy standpoint.- Wolfkeeper 07:43, 11 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Hello Angr,

Thanks for the help. I appreciate the heads up. As you can tell I'm very new to Wikipedia and (I think) I'm just getting the hang of things. Jensen25 (talk) 20:57, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

No problem! We were all newbies once! +Angr 21:15, 14 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Evangelical Church in Germany

Hi, I have requested a rename of Category:Evangelical Church in Germany dioceses; see the discussion at Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2009 November 15#Category:Evangelical Church in Germany dioceses. Thanks! +Angr 17:48, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

Comment: I see some merit in this proposal, but how can we instead rename this to reflect it is not a category for individual church buildings or congregations? Carlaude:Talk 17:52, 15 November 2009 (UTC)
Sure, I'm open to suggestions. Let's discuss it at the CFD, though. +Angr 18:40, 15 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Suresh Fageria

Please contact me if you're unsure why you received this message. Vejvančický (talk) 07:41, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for your recommendations, Angr. I nominate articles for CSD only when I'm absolutely sure that they are hopeless. The article deals with living person and contains pretty bold - unreferenced - claims. Usually I'm trying to add reliable sources by myself, but I can't find any sources confirming the notability of this subject. CSD and AfD nomination is just a logical step, I didn't mean to be "biting" :) Thanks for your cooperation. --Vejvančický (talk) 08:11, 16 November 2009 (UTC)
On second thought, you are right, this was really "speedy". Thank you for reminding me that. --Vejvančický (talk) 10:27, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Mucchi (Italian surname)

A tardy thanks for your astute and helpful input! Finally got around to posting my tentative conclusions, with the dismayed realization that the discussion was already archived. Never thought I'd get this backlogged in keeping up the discourse, especially when it was my query to start with! -- with apologies and blushes, Deborahjay (talk) 13:38, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Prook

Thanks for spotting my incomplete AfD nomination, no idea why it was such a fail, but it's fixed now.   An pablohablo. 15:39, 16 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Regarding deletion of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan

Hello Angr, I very sorry to say but your move of deleting the article Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan is not appreciated... I know it was a copyright problem but adequate time was not provided for responding. Secondly, the acticle was in process of completion, where such material can be removed/replaced. Third, the acticle dealt with the structure of organisation, which is stationary and cannot be changed!! Lastly, there was still a lot of things to be added (as the organisation is a autonomous government org, managing more than 900 schools and more than a million students, and therefore having a huge structure!!)

It is requested that the deletion be withdrawn or premition to create acticle on the said subject be granted. If, after completion of the article, it is felt that it is still a copyright violation, then the article can be deleted, without warning!!

(Mohitsaini29 (talk) 09:16, 18 November 2009 (UTC))

Copyvios have to be deleted immediately. The lemma isn't protected; there's nothing stopping you from starting the article over again from scratch in a non-copyvio version. But what was there was entirely a copyvio and had to be deleted. +Angr 09:18, 18 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Wiktionary link

Thank you for the change in the wikicode, I tried but got my fr and wikt codes the upside down. Regards -- Александр Дмитрий (Alexandr Dmitri) (talk) 21:17, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

You can put the language code first too, but then you have to put a colon before it: [[:fr:wikt:confrère]] gives fr:wikt:confrère. +Angr 21:26, 20 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of PROD from Pop's Nightclub & Concert Venue

Hello Angr, this is an automated message from SDPatrolBot to inform you the PROD template you added to Pop's Nightclub & Concert Venue has been removed. It was removed by Bushido Hacks with the following edit summary 'Give this article some time. What is with the coord missing template?'. Please consider discussing your concerns with Bushido Hacks before pursuing deletion further yourself. If you still think the article should be deleted after communicating with the 'dePRODer,' you may want to send the article to AfD for community discussion. Thank you, SDPatrolBot (talk) 19:50, 27 November 2009 (UTC) (Learn how to opt out of these messages) 19:50, 27 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Ring, County Waterford

Hi Angr. Your recent edits to Ring, County Waterford was brought to my attention by Sarah777. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the lengthy, ongoing saga over the Ireland naming dispute (Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Ireland article names and Wikipedia:WikiProject Ireland Collaboration), but after a couple of years it appears to have settled into an uneasy compromise whereby the cogent articles remain named Republic of Ireland but are pipe linked to Ireland when appropriate. I can see arguments for and against pipe linking, I just wanted to make you aware that there is some serious history here. It might be worth discussing the issue at the collaboration page, if you think there are strong reasons it should not be pipelinked in this particular instance. Rockpocket 06:02, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

I am well aware of the Ireland naming dispute, and am well aware of Sarah777's long history of edit-warring and POV-pushing on this issue. In particular, I see no reason that the "See also" section of Ring, County Waterford, should pretend that it's linking to a list of towns and villages in Ireland when in fact it is linking only to a list of towns and villages in the Republic. It's actually very misleading to the reader to do so. +Angr 06:35, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
So, you are saying "the Republic" isn't in Ireland? Sarah777 (talk) 21:02, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
Yes, I appreciate that potential for confusion. Nonetheless, if it is under dispute, its probably worth discussing at that venue, rather than get drawn into an edit war over it. Rockpocket 07:10, 30 November 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Dictionary or not dictionary?

Regarding edits like this and this and discussions like Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Linguistics#Prithee, I'd like to propose clarifying WP:NOTDICDEF on the difference between a dictionary article and an encyclopedic article about a word (or morpheme). And maybe we should have something about first transwikiing to Wiktionary and then deleting content. Would you be willing to participate? Or has this discussion been lead before? (On a general basis, I mean. Starting the same thing about every article over again is beginning to get on my nerves.) Cheers --ἀνυπόδητος (talk) 10:15, 7 December 2009 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for having added the Phonology section to Lao language. I always thought it was a shame that a language which is spoken by millions of people and an official language of a country didn't even have a phoneme inventory on its wikipedia page. Munci (talk) 23:10, 20 December 2009 (UTC)

No problem. I just wish I had found more sources for it than a 4-page PDF. +Angr 07:25, 21 December 2009 (UTC)
