- I'm a maths graduate working in the transport sector. I'm orignally from Bradford on Avon, a small town in West Wiltshire, in the United Kingdom (I knew the members of Blackbud at school - not very well, they were in the two years below me). I currently reside in Canada.
- Hobbies and interests: maths, pinnipeds, non-League football, clarinet, piano, church organ, bell ringing, field hockey, Stage lighting, Backgammon, philology.
- Many of my edits relate to maths, non-League football, or Canadian elections
- I also specialise in templates (see User:Tompw/templates and User:Tompw/leaguetemplates)
- I have shadow accounts at meta and commons.
edit Frequently visited pages - Maths: Portal:Mathematics, Portal:Geometry, Wikiproject maths, WP 1.0 stuff, Areas of mathematics, User:Tompw/Maths_cats. My masters project was entitled Curves and Singularties (PDF), and looked at n-dimensional curves in Euclidean and affine space.
- Non-League Football: Wikiproject NLF, User:Tompw/leaguetemplates for a full list of league templates, User:Tompw/allclubs for templates in action. (I'm the creator and editor of popular non-League football website thePyramid.info)
- History of rail transport in Great Britain series: pre-1830, 1830 - 1922, 1923 - 1947, 1948 - 1994, 1995 to date; plus List of British Rail classes
- Nunavut: Portal:Nunavut.
- To do type things: State highways in California, Portal:Discworld, List of NFL seasons, Wikipedia:WikiProject U.S. counties/county lists (changes), User:Tompw/leaguetemplates ({{fb box}} format)

- Last time I checked, my edit count put me in the top 0.03% of users by number of edits. However, a hefty proportion have been related to placing templates, so that doesn't reeally mean much. To me, the edit count is like the scenry on a train journey: it may be pretty and nice, but has nothing to do with the destination.
- Currently, the largest proportion of my edits is (non-League) football related, typically addding navigation boxes to club articles (I've probably edited over a thousand club articles). Other areas include maths, elections, Nunavut, physics, astronomy and railways.
- Sample of major contributions: Timeline of Canadian elections, List of British Rail classes series, Areas of mathematics, History of rail transport in Great Britain series, List of Nova Scotia general elections (post-Confederation), Canadian federal election results since 1867, English football league system, Homotopy groups of spheres, List of parishes in Louisiana, 2005 Atlantic hurricane season series (although so did 1,000 other people), Clarinet, contents of User:Tompw/templates, and most of templates listed on User:Tompw/leaguetemplates
- I also created the colour scheme used on WP 1.0 for denoting the importance of articles, and the current scheme used for the quality of articles: the former are used on over 750,000 articles, while the latter are used on over 2 million articles (well, their talk pages).
