A little about me Hi! I'm "the wub", although in my occasional forays into real life I go by the more mundane "Pete". Born and bred in Lancashire, England, I'm currently in my fourth year reading Materials Science at Downing College, Cambridge. I made my first edit from this account in March 2005, though I'd been reading and making the odd anonymous edit for a long while before that. It is now 1719 days later and I'm still here. Oh dear. I became an admin in October 2005. It's no big deal. I also have a bot, which generally helps out at WikiProject Deletion sorting. Feel free to add me on facebook, just let me know your Wikipedia username if you do. My username My name comes from the short story "Beyond Lies the Wub" by Philip K Dick. A friend of mine who's really into sci-fi was reading it one day, and seeing the cover "wub" struck me as an amazingly funny word. I used it for my (now defunct) website, because of its similarity to web and it being short and memorable. When I registered I picked it as my pseudonym as well. It was a while before I actually read the story (and its article, since I didn't want to be spoiled), but I really enjoyed it when I did. Plus I was quite relieved, since I had been worried that "the wub" could have been some kind of monstrous villain, and I'd been giving people the wrong impression. Of course, there's always an alternative explanation, as pointed out by this anon: [1]
My actions I invite scrutiny of all my actions on Wikipedia, especially those that involve admin privileges. If you have concerns then please contact me. Note to other admins: feel free to undo or overrule any of my admin actions if you think it will benefit Wikipedia. It would be nice if you drop me a message telling me, but you don't have to wait around for me to reply and I certainly won't shout at you for "wheel warring". Data recovery If you need access to a Wikipedia article that has been deleted, ask me. If it's not a copyright violation, libel, or personal information, and has not been deleted as a suspected WP:BLP violation, I will provide the text for you. Note that using the text to recreate many deleted articles automatically qualify them for speedy deletion, and keeping deleted content hanging around in your userspace has caused editors to be penalized before.
Contact me The best way to contact me is on my talk page. Please don't forget to sign! I do prefer transparent on-wiki communication, but if you do feel the need to get in touch privately, or you are currently blocked, then e-mail me at thewub<döt>wiki<αt>googlemail<döt>com You might (very occasionally) catch me on IRC as well. If you want to chat some other way (MSN/Windows Live Messenger, Google Talk, phone, carrier pigeon or whatever) then e-mail me first and I'll sort something out.
User pages Awards I saw you crossed out a double vote in your RfA! Now I don't feel bad for being the only one. ;) Since you did a truly admin-like action before being an admin, I hereby award you this Barnstar of Diligence for your extraordinary scrutiny.
