I'm a widely travelled native of Liverpool - Irish by passport, but having lived for many years in Liberia, Sierra Leone, Portugal, Peru, Mozambique and the UK (and for shorter periods having worked in Vietnam, Uganda, Albania and Ghana). I'm a linguist and development worker by training and experience. I know a little bit about a lot of stuff.

Wikipedia is an extraordinary creation - it's a pity Borges never lived to see it. I often spend a few spare moments tinkering with it, tightening up a bit of language, adding some citations, or trying to make some red links turn blue, while at the same time trying to get my head round how the damn thing works.
