Time in its irresistible and ceaseless flow carries along on its flood all created things and drowns them in the depths of obscurity.... But the tale of history forms a very strong bulwark against the stream of time, and checks in some measure its irresistible flow, so that, of all things done in it, as many as history has taken over it secures and binds together, and does not allow them to slip away into the abyss of oblivion. —Anna Comnena, preface to the Alexiad My name, as you might have guessed, is Kirill Lokshin. I was born in Saint Petersburg and currently reside near Washington, D.C. Although I'm an engineer by profession, my contributions to Wikipedia lie primarily in the realm of military history. I made my first edit in June 2005, and became an administrator in October of the same year. From February 2006 to February 2008, I served as the lead coordinator of the Military history WikiProject. Having stepped down from the position, I was briefly co-opted to assist the new coordinators, and was elected coordinator emeritus in September 2008. In August 2006, I founded the WikiProject Council in order to encourage the development of more active and productive WikiProjects. I was first elected to the Arbitration Committee in December 2006, and served as the coordinating arbitrator from January 2009 until my resignation from the committee that July. I was re-elected to the committee in December 2009. I have significantly contributed to a number of articles, the most notable of which are listed below:
Over the course of my Wikipedia career, I have received a variety of awards from my colleagues. |
