| | | Wikipedia biography | | Hi, my name is Gareth Jones, and I'm an administrator of Wikipedia. To anyone who isn't my mother, I'm Gav. (Gav Jones, G Jones, GeeJo. You see?) I'm 21 years old and currently working as a lab technician to a branch of the Environmental Services Group. My first edit to Wikipedia was way back in May 2005. I signed up for an account on June 13, 2005. Since then, I've made over 21,000 edits to the English edition, placing me in the top 600 (of 11,133,561). I've also been fairly prolific over on Wikimedia Commons, where I'm in the top 300 by upload size. So, what are all these edits? Mostly the following: I'm also more than happy to lend a hand to anyone on specific problems, be they in need of an opinion, decision, or advice. As I've mentioned, please feel free to contact me if you want any input. | | quote of the day • news • did you know? | | | | | Real-life biography | | As for my personal history, well, it's not that interesting to be honest. I left high-school with a full set of GCSEs (mostly As) and A-Levels (All Bs) to enter tertiary education at Warwick University; a four-year course leading to an MChem. I dropped out during the third year for reasons I'd rather not go into on a GFDL-licensed public website, and have been looking for something to pay off my student loan with ever since (Damn that Milliondollarhomepage guy for stealing my idea!). I've travelled a fair bit, spending over a month in both France and Peru and visiting various other places as the opportunity arises. Given the limited space I've allowed myself for this blurb, I'll define my political beliefs as chiefly Minarchist and my religious beliefs as Christian humanist, though as with any label there are flaws (such as my support of role of the British Royal Family as it stands today). | | | Userboxes | | Language: | | | | | | | | | | Wikipedia: | | | | 1k+ | This user has uploaded over 1000 freely-licensed images. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Picture of the day (Saturday 5 December, 2009) | | | | | | Restoration: Lise Broer | | | | Did you know... | | As I've stated elsewhere, my style of editing is to have spurts of productivity in a single area, with occasional breaks in which I do nothing more strenuous than fix formatting or typos. From time to time, I get into an article-creating mood (which never seems to last long enough), and pounce on a single subject. Most of the time, this results in a few stubs and failed Sandbox projects, but every so often the literature proves deep enough to form several complete, well-formed articles. Whenever this happens, I tend to submit the results to DYK. I've also spent a lot of time prowling Special:Newpages for articles to either speedy-delete or nominate for featuring on the Main Page (Muahahaha, the power!) Below are the notices I've earned (I'm pretty sure a few of the earlier ones are missing) from submitting articles for Main Page exposure. I've been very active in updating the template myself since I was promoted to Admin status, so I've taken the liberty of adding the notices that would've been added if I wasn't such a freak about not seeing 10+ hour gaps between the updates. Kinda sad, I know. | | My "Did you know..." contributions | | | | | | Awards | | Barnstar | | | | To GeeJo for exceptional work at researching new articles for DYK. If it's not a copyright violation, libel, or personal information, and has not been deleted as a suspected WP:BLP violation, I will provide the text for you. Note that using the text to recreate a deleted article automatically qualifies it for speedy deletion, and keeping deleted content hanging around in your userspace has gotten editors penalized before.
