| Primary topics I've written about: North Omaha | Youth [edit] About me I'm Adam and I have been editing Wikipedia since 2004. I am a freelance writer, and work as a public servant and consultant on community development. I started editing Wikipedia as an unregistered user in 2004, and registered "Freechild" the next year. For several years I focused my energies on article-writing, and as of 30 September 2008 I have created more than 512 articles; more than 100 of my articles have been featured on featured on the Did You Know feature. On the list of users by pages created from November 5 2007, I was #698 with 322 articles. Today I focus mostly on maintaining and promoting quality editing, and on the list of Wikipedians by number of edits on November 20 2008 I was #759 with 25,360 edits. I have earned two DYK medals and two barnstars. Note to self: Review this and this and this. Useful links [edit] About me My interests in Wikipedia stem from the places I have lived, places I've visited, people I admire or otherwise want to learn from, and my intellectual interests. My academic background is in youth studies, focusing on youth development and education reform, and my professional work was concentrated on student engagement and youth voice for several years. I have lived in Calgary, Billings, Omaha, Taos, Tacoma, Floral Park, and Olympia. I really like Granville Island and the Okanagan, and have explored Crowsnest Pass on foot. Boston, Mogollon and Waimanalo are among my favorite places in the U.S. Of the few overseas travels I have had, the Isle of Skye and Sao Paulo rank highest. Before I die I would like to go birding in the Whooping Crane Summer Range and follow the migration of the Central Arctic caribou herd. I consider myself an amateur hyperlocal historian focused on North Omaha, a community I grew up in. Recently I founded a wikiproject focused on Omaha to pull together the many editors whom I've collaborated with to write about that city. I write extensively about the history of Omaha, including important people, places and events, as well as general information articles about the city. I am also involved in many articles about organizations, biographies, and topics related to Nebraska in general.
