The University of Bihać (Bosnian: Univerzitet u Bihaću) is a public institution in Bosnia and Herzegovina that organizes and executes studies, scientific and expert work; develops scientific, technological and artistic creation. The seat of the University of Bihać is Kulina bana 2/II. It was founded on July 28, 1997.[1] However, the roots of higher education in this area go back much further. In fact, in 1970 an outpost of the College of Engineering in Karlovac started its work, whereupon in 1975 the Department of Engineering at the College of Engineering in Bihać was established. Department of Textile Technology was founded in 1979, as well as the College of Economy. The academy of Pedagogy was founded in 1993, then the Islamic Academy of Education in 1995. Today, the University of Bihać comprises seven faculties: Faculty of Biotechnical Sciences, Faculty of Economics, Islamic Faculty of Education, Faculty of Pedagogy, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Technical Engineering and College of Nursing Studies which produce 26 different professions. Up to this date, we have 4,935 graduate students; 3,954 students graduated with college degree and 981 students graduated with faculty degree. In academic year 2007/2008 at the University of Bihać, 4,881 students were enrolled in studies. 3,407 are full-time students and 1,474 are part-time students. Since 2006/2007, students have been enrolled in studies according to the principles of the Bologna declaration. The implementation of this principle is burdened with many problems. However, considering the enrollment policy, classes are mostly conducted according to Bologna. This means that class sizes are kept to the minimum number permissible, smaller and, as such, that students are able to receive more direct and meaningful feedback from professors.
