USA Football is the national governing body of American football at the youth and amateur levels. An independent non-profit based near Washington, D.C., USA Football, which hosts more than 100 training events annually, offers education programs for coaches and game officials as well as skill development for young players and resources for youth league administrators. USA Football was endowed by the NFL and NFLPA in 2002. The organization awards more than $500,000 in equipment grants to youth leagues and high schools each year based on merit and need along with additional resources. USA Football also is the only sports entity to offer as much as $500,000 in subsidies for volunteer youth coach background checks for youngsters' safety. USA Football does not operate leagues or teams, but serves and strengthens existing leagues to ensure positive football experiences for players, parents and coaches. USA Football also assembles and manages national team programs as the designated U.S. representative to the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). [edit] EventsCoaching Schools Our Coaching Schools are one-day coaching clinics conducted by top local high school and youth coaches to educate participants on techniques necessary to teach the fundamentals of every position, organize a season with practice planning and give tips for better offensive, defensive and special teams schemes. Officiating Schools Our Officiating Schools are two-day clinics designed by NFL Umpire Tony Michalek and Big Ten Referee Bill LeMonnier to improve your skills as a youth or high school football official. You will work scrimmages in crews of five and seven and receive valuable feedback from NFL and Division I officials. Player Academies USA Football Player Academies are developmental camps designed for athletes, ages 9–14, with a minimum of one-year of playing experience. Similar to an NFL training camp, the 3½ day curriculum will review the fundamental skills of offense, defense and special teams, providing each player with the opportunity to improve their skills. State Leadership Forum USA Football brings league commissioners throughout the state together to discuss topics important to youth football at the State Leadership Forums. State Forum topics include: coaching education, health and safety, participation rates, fundraising and age/weight standards. Commissioner also share best-practices and open discussions to improve the region’s youth football. US National Team In June 2009 USA Football along with IFAF will host its inaugural 19 and under Junior World Championship at legendary Fawcett stadium in Canton, Ohio. This week long event hosts 7 countries, 4 continents including a nationally selected team from the U.S. USA Football will also be sponsoring a national road trip to each players hometown to announce their participation in the tournament. USA Football also composed a Senior National team compiled of former college players that competed for the first time in 2007 at the Senior World Championship in Kawasaki, Japan. The U.S team won the gold medal. The next Senior World Championship will be held in Denmark and Sweden in 2011.
