Good Food is a lifestyle channel broadcasting in the United Kingdom as part of the UKTV network of channels. The channel was launched on 5 November 2001 as UK Food and its programmes were initially aired on UKTV Style before moving to the channel. The channel, along with the rest of the network, had the "UK" prefix changed to UKTV on 8 March 2004. On 22 June 2009, the channel was rebranded to Good Food. This concluded the rebranding of all UKTV channels.

Good Food is available on Sky Digital and Virgin Media. Programming from Good Food is also available on digital terrestrial television via the Top Up TV Anytime service. A timeshifted "+1", Good Food +1 service is also available on Sky and Virgin.

The channel has a similar content to BBC Worldwide's BBC Food service.

On 13 July 2009, Virgin Media revealed that they are "currently in active talks" with UKTV about launching a high definition version of Good Food on their cable television platform. [1]

As part of the UKTV rebrand, UKTV Style along with UKTV Gardens where the third phase of the rebrand, with UKTV Style rebranded as "Home" on 30 April 2009 and UKTV Gardens rebranded as "Really" on 19 May 2009[2] and UKTV Food rebranded as Good Food on 22 June 2009. The name is based on that of the Good Food cookery magazine, published by BBC Magazines (the channel and the magazine will continue to be operated separately).[3]

[edit] Programming

Around 80% of the channel's output is made up exclusive commissions and acquisitions, with the remainder coming from the BBC archive. Programmes that were originally aired on the BBC have been edited to shorten them to allow adverts to be carried during and between programmes.
