The 2002–03 UEFA Champions League was the 11th season of UEFA's premier European club football tournament, the UEFA Champions League, since its rebranding in 1992, and the 48th European Cup tournament overall. The competition was won by Milan, who beat Juventus on penalties in the European Cup's first ever all-Italian final, to win their sixth European title.

16 winners from the third qualifying round, 10 champions from countries ranked 1-10, and six second-placed teams from countries ranked 1-6 were drawn into eight groups of four teams each. The top two teams in each group advance to the Champions League second group stage, while the third-placed teams advance to round three of the UEFA Cup.

Tiebreakers, if necessary, are applied in the following order:

1. Points earned in head-to-head matches between the tied teams.
2. Total goals scored in head-to-head matches between the tied teams.
3. Away goals scored in head-to-head matches between the tied teams.
4. Cumulative goal difference in all group matches.
5. Total goals scored in all group matches.
6. Higher UEFA coefficient going into the competition.

• Barcelona broke Milan's record of going the most number of games undefeated in the UEFA Champions League.
• AEK Athens became the first team to get 6 draws in a group stage.
• Newcastle United became the first team to have progressed past the group stage after losing their first three games.
• Maccabi Haifa became the first Israeli team to participate in the UEFA Champions League
• The final was the second UEFA Champions League to be contested by teams from the same country. The first was in 2000 in an all Spanish final between Real Madrid and Valencia.
• Bayer Leverkusen failed to gain a single point in Group A of the second group stage. This made them the only side to finish the second group stage with zero points since the second group stage was introduced in 1999-2000.
• Milan and Internazionale met in the semi finals, making it the first time a local derby took place during the Champions League.^{[citation needed]}
• Clarence Seedorf became the first player to win the Champions League with three different teams. He also won with Ajax and Real Madrid.
